摘要: An optical communication device includes a light source that emits a light beam and an optical fiber having a core and a cladding. The optical fiber has a light entrance face having a core region and a cladding region. The light beam emitted by the light source is converged by a converging lens on the core region and is transmitted through the optical fiber. The entrance face is configured to generate a light intensity distribution in light reflected by the light entrance face depending on a position where the light beam is incident on the entrance face, a converging lens arranged between the light source and the optical fiber.

摘要: An optical fiber includes an entrance face that is optically coupleable with a device for transmitting a light beam through the optical fiber. The entrance face includes a core region and a cladding region surrounding the core region. The cladding region is at least partially covered with a coating, which is made of metal, for example. That is, the coating is formed over a whole area of the cladding region or the coating is formed on an area of the cladding region defined in a vicinity of the core region. The coating has a mirror surface to increase the reflectivity thereof and enhances the reflectivity of the entrance face.

Further alternatively, the above-mentioned at least one lens element may be provided with a surface having the smallest absolute value of radius of curvature of all surfaces in the scanning lens.

摘要: A multi-beam scanning optical device uses optical fibers to transmit the laser fluxes from the semiconductor lasers. The optical fibers are arranged such that point light sources formed at respective exit ends of the optical fibers are linearly aligned. The exit light fluxes from the optical fibers are deflected by a polygon mirror and converged on an image surface to form a line of beam spots, which forms plurality of scanning lines per scan. In order to adjust the angle of the line of beam spots, the exit end portions of the optical fibers is fixed to a fiber alignment block such that the exit end surfaces of said optical fiber are linearly aligned on an alignment line. Further, the fiber alignment block is fixed to a cylindrical member which is rotatably supported by a supporting member. Accordingly, the angle of the line of beam spots can be easily adjusted by rotating the cylindrical member.

摘要: A multi-beam scanning device includes a light source for emitting a plurality of laser beams, a polygon mirror for deflecting the laser beams so that the laser beams scan across an object surface in a main scanning direction, an fθ lens disposed between the polygon mirror and the object surface, and a cylindrical lens that converges each laser beam in a vicinity of the polygon mirror in the auxiliary direction. A mirror is disposed between the light source and the cylindrical lens which deflects the laser beams in the auxiliary scanning direction. The mirror is rotatably supported by a mirror holder such that the traveling direction of the laser beams deflected by the mirror can be adjusted.

摘要: A scanning optical device that includes a laser source that emits a laser beam; a deflector for deflecting a laser beam to form a scanning beam spot on an image surface; a beam splitter, between the laser source and the deflector, and a sensor positioned in a predetermined position relative to the beam splitter. In particular, the beam splitter includes a reflective area in which the laser beam from the laser source is reflected and a transmitting area that is distinct from the reflective area through which the laser beam is transmitted. One of the reflected laser beam or transmitted laser beam is a main beam to be deflected by the deflector and the other is a monitor beam to be detected by the sensor.

In particular, the controller rotates the dynamic prism to compensate for errors that affect the position of the beam spot on the image surface, such as errors that vary with time and errors that occur randomly during the scanning process.

The invention is also directed to a light intensity control method.
