摘要: There is provided an optical connector device which prevents leakage of light until right before connectors are connected to each other and is small-sized by a reduction in space for housing shutters. The optical connector device is an optical connector device comprising a first optical connector and a second optical connector. When shutters for shutting out light from the optical connectors are collided with each other, the shutters move to positions where they do not shut out the light. Therefore, the first optical connector and the second optical connector are connected to each other. After moving, the shutter of the first optical connector and the shutter of the second optical connector are inserted into the second optical connector while remaining contacting each other.

摘要: The head end surface of an optical fiber (2) and the head end surface of an optical fiber (12) are butted to each other in an alignment member (22) of an adapter (21). In the butting, because one of the members clasping the optical fiber (2) is a plate (4a) that is short, the optical fiber (2) is bent and buckled between the left end of the short plate and the right end of the alignment member. Members clasping the optical fiber (12) are a long plate (14b) and a V-grooved base plate (13), and the optical fiber (12) is therefore horizontally fixed between each of right ends of the long plate and of the V-grooved base plate (13) and the left end of the alignment member. This results that the head end surface of the optical fiber (2) and the head end surface of the optical fiber (12) are in tight contact with each other, achieving excellent optical transmission between both optical fibers.

摘要: An object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a bared optical fiber having a good end surface of a coating when the coating of the coated optical fiber is removed, and a device for manufacturing the same. To achieve the above object, according to the invention, a laser beam is applied to an coated optical to fuse the coating or work the coating in other manners, if a coating material has a lower melting point as compared with the material of the bared optical fiber to remove the coating, whereby a bared optical fiber is manufactured. In addition, a cyanogen gas generated when the coating of the coated optical fiber is fused or worked in other manners is decomposed by ozone, thereby being made harmless.

摘要: Provided is a device for removing coating on an optical fiber. The device has a cutting depth limiting surface disposed on a receiver body and a cutting blade attached between a pusher body and a fixing block. The cutting blade is made from plastics and has a specified bending elasticity. An optical fiber is inserted between the cutting blade and the limiting surface. During operation, the cutting blade cuts into a covering on the optical fiber. A high precision in arranging the cutting blade is not required.

摘要: An optical fiber ribbon includes a plurality of optical fibers arranged in a row and an outer coating formed around the optical fibers. Each of the optical fibers has a core, a cladding, and a non-strippable thin coating made of synthetic resin with a Young's modulus of 50 kg/mm2 to 250 kg/mm2 at room temperature and coated around the cladding. The concentricity of the core to the diameter of the non-strippable thin coating is 1 &mgr;m or less.
