Compressor are taught that may include a suction port to draw refrigerant and a discharge port to discharge compressed refrigerant. A driving shaft is disposed within a compressor driving chamber. A swash plate is inclinably and slidably coupled to the driving shaft. The swash plate rotates together with the driving shaft at an inclination angle with respect to a plane perpendicular to the rotational axis of the driving shaft. A cylinder bore is disposed adjacent to the compressor driving chamber. A piston is disposed within the cylinder bore and an end portion of the piston is connected to a peripheral edge of the swash plate by a shoe. Preferably, the piston reciprocates within the cylinder bore to compress the refrigerant in response to rotation of the inclined swash plate. A rotor is connected to the driving shaft. A hinge mechanism connects the swash plate with the rotor and transmits torque from the driving shaft to the swash plate regardless of the inclination angle of the swash plate. The hinge mechanism includes a projection disposed on one of the rotor or the swash plate and at least one arm disposed on the other of the rotor or the swash plate. The projection has a recessed structure and at least one arm is coupled to the projection to transmit torque from the driving shaft.

The present invention discloses a method for installing pistons in cylinder bores formed in a cylinder block of a compressor. The piston on one end of the cylinder block and a positioning jig on the other end of the cylinder block are arranged. The positioning jig is inserted into the cylinder bore such that part of the positioning jig protrudes from the cylinder bores toward the piston. The protruding part of the positioning jig is engaged with the piston to determine the position of the piston. The piston is inserted into the cylinder bore while maintaining the engagement between the jig and the piston. The positioning jig is removed from the cylinder bore. This facilitate automation of installation of pistons in cylinder bores.

A pressure sensing chamber of a displacement control valve is connected to a suction chamber by an outlet passage. A bellows is located in the pressure sensing chamber. The bellows expands and contracts in accordance with the pressure in the sensing chamber. A valve chamber forms part of a displacement control passage, which is used to control the pressure of a crank chamber. A valve body is located in the valve chamber. The valve body is moved by the bellows to open and close the displacement control passage. Highly pressurized gas from the discharge chamber is supplied to the pressure sensing chamber through an inlet passage. The gas in the pressure sensing chamber is released to the suction chamber through the outlet passage. An electromagnetic valve is located in the outlet passage to regulate the flow of refrigerant gas from the sensing chamber. The outlet passage also includes a bypass passage. The bypass passage bypasses the electromagnetic valve and constantly communicates the pressure sensing chamber with the suction chamber.
