    摘要: To appropriately prevent a burn-in phenomenon when a still image such as an OSD screen is displayed on a display panel. When a menu screen is displayed on a video screen in a superimposed manner, a menu phrase in at least one of a left-eye video and a right-eye video is deleted on a menu background area. A time period in which a brightness difference between still pixels in a boundary between a menu background area and a menu phrase remains large is reduced, and thus the occurrence of the burn-in phenomenon can be prevented. However, the menu background area is constantly displayed without being deleted, so that screen flickering does not occur.

    摘要: A picture signal processing system includes a playback apparatus and a display apparatus connected via first and second communication units. The playback apparatus receives a video signal made up of source data generated by moving giant image data in a constant direction at a constant speed, wherein the giant image data has a number of pixels far greater than the number of pixels in a display region. The playback apparatus reads source data speed information stored in the video signal header, and transmits the video signal and the speed information to the display apparatus. The display apparatus references a table to determine how to process the video signal on the basis of the speed information, processes the video signal, and then displays the processed video signal.

    摘要: A CPU is designed so as to put a demagnetizing circuit in an operative state in accordance with a result of detecting, among other quantities or events, the number of operations to turn on a power counted by a counter, the lapse of time under a predetermined condition measured by a timer since the pulling-out of an AC plug, the movement of the main body of a display device sensed by a sensor unit, an external magnetic field sensed by a sensor unit or a residual magnetism in a CRT itself sensed by a sensor unit. Instead of carrying out demagnetization each time the power is turned on, demagnetization is performed only under certain conditions when necessary, diminishing the problem of wasteful power consumption. On the top of that, the number of cases in which sound and picture vibration are generated due to a demagnetizing operation carried out right after the turning-on of the power is reduced, resulting in a product easy to handle by the user. In addition, the lives of components composing a demagnetizing circuit such as a positive thermistor can be prolonged.
