摘要: A wireless communication system comprises a macrocell base station and a communication control system, wherein picocell base stations inhibit wireless communications during a first set of time slots and transfer the wireless communications during a second set of the time slots. The macrocell base station is configured to transfer wireless communication signals at a first power level to a plurality of wireless communication devices during the first set of the time slots. The communication control system configured to determine a quantity of the wireless communication devices that are within a distance threshold of the macrocell base station. The macrocell base station is configured to transfer additional wireless communication signals at a second power level during the second set of the time slots to at least some of the wireless communication devices if the quantity exceeds a quantity threshold.

摘要: Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems and methods for improving reverse link throughput using Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) across multiple wireless devices. In a particular embodiment, in response to receiving a user instruction to execute an application associated with a wireless protocol over a MIMO transmit antenna system, a method provides transferring a wireless probe signal to identify whether an external MIMO antenna element is available over another wireless protocol. The method further provides generating a signal with a Walsh code for the application and wirelessly transmitting the signal from an internal MIMO antenna element for receipt by a MIMO receive antenna system. The method further provides wirelessly transmitting the signal over the other wireless protocol, wherein a second wireless device including the external MIMO antenna element receives the signal and wirelessly transmits the signal from the external MIMO antenna element for receipt by the MIMO receive antenna system.

摘要: Systems and methods for dynamically adjusting a metric that influences power management of an access terminal are provided. Initially, an access node is configured to distribute reverse-activity bits (RAB's) to the access terminal, which conveys data, at a particular rate, to the access node. Adjusting the dynamic metric involves establishing a number of slots allocated for a filtered reverse-activity bit (FRAB) window and a hybrid reverse-activity bit (HRAB) window, wherein each of the slots are allocated to accept a RAB. The RAB's accepted to the slots of the FRAB window and the HRAB window are recursively averaged to derive a FRAB parameter and an HRAB parameter, respectively. The dynamic metric is adjusted by incorporating either the FRAB parameter or an HRAB parameter therein based on whether ramping conditions are satisfied. The rate of data conveyed from the access terminal is controlled based on the adjusted dynamic metric.

摘要: A method and system for reducing latency by anticipating responsive data communications is described. When the user of a first mobile station receives a message sent from a second mobile station, the user of the first mobile station may responsively reply. If, before the reply is sent, the second mobile station releases its network radio link and goes dormant, the reply may be delayed as the radio link is set up again after the reply is sent. To reduce this latency, the first mobile station may monitor its user's actions and, upon an indication that the user intends to soon reply to the earlier received message, the first mobile station may send a signal into the network which causes the second mobile station to maintain its radio link or to set up a new radio link if it has gone dormant.

摘要: Methods are described for handling an incoming call at a mobile switching center when the mobile station is currently in either an access state (in the process of making an outgoing call) or in a paging state (in the process of receiving an earlier incoming call). The mobile switching center waits until the mobile station transitions out of the access state or paging state into a traffic state. The mobile switching center sends an alert message to the mobile station alerting the user of the new incoming call. The mobile switching center handles the incoming call per a response to the alert message. One option would be to send the new incoming call to the user and drop the other incoming call (or the outgoing call). Another option would be to direct the incoming call to voice mail. In either case, the handling of the incoming call is per the user's direction, i.e., as dictated by the response message.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a method for selecting one or more capsules in which to include a traffic channel assignment message. The method may involve: (a) receiving a request from an access terminal to engage in a communication session; (b) making a determination as to whether or not the communication session is of a type that is designated for priority service; and (c) using the determination of whether or not the requested communication session is of a type that is designated for priority service as a basis for selecting one or more capsules in which to include the traffic channel assignment message. According to an exemplary embodiment, for priority communications, the TCA message is sent in all sectors identified in a route update message from the access terminal, and for non-priority communication sessions, control channel occupancy and pilot-signal strength to select sectors for the TCA message.

摘要: Disclosed are a method and apparatus for sending a communication to destination client devices. The communication has two message sets: an address set containing an address list and a content set containing content. Both the address set and the content set include one or more messages. The address list includes at least one address for each destination client device. Example content types are text, hyperlinks, web pages, audio, images, and video. Each message of both message sets may be sent separately to a network entity, such as a short message service center. When both message sets are received at the network entity, the network entity may correlate the address set with the content set and responsively send the content to each address in the address list.
