The receiver may include a processor. The processor may include modules for performing carrier recovery. A coarse estimator module may derive a coarse frequency offset from the training packet; and a fine estimator module may derive a fine frequency offset from the training packet substantially simultaneously and in parallel with the coarse estimator module. A carrier recovery module may perform carrier recovery using the fine and coarse frequency offsets.
