    Abstract: A packing assembly for forming a packed-bed for a chromatography device is described herein. The packing assembly includes a bottom plate and a first top plate. The first top plate has a top plate hole centrally positioned therein. The packing assembly also includes a middle plate. The middle plate has a middle plate hole centrally positioned therein. The middle plate hole is aligned with the top plate hole when the packing assembly is in an assembled state. The packing assembly also includes a second top plate. The second top plate has a protrusion extending outwardly. At least a portion of the protrusion has a same size and a same shape as the top plate hole to be received in the top plate hole when the packing assembly is in a packing state. Methods of packing chromatography media in a packing assembly and assembling a chromatography device are also described herein.

    Abstract: A chromatography device for removing a solute from a fluid is described herein. The device includes a first plate having an inlet, a first primary channel fluidly coupled to the inlet and a first set of secondary channels fluidly coupled to the first primary channel. The device also includes a middle frame housing chromatographic media and a second plate having an outlet, a second primary channel fluidly coupled to the outlet and a first set of secondary channels fluidly coupled to the second primary channel. The first set of secondary channels directs the fluid in a direction that is transverse to a direction of flow of the fluid through the chromatographic media and the second set of secondary channels directs the fluid to the outlet in a direction that is transverse to the direction of flow of the fluid through the chromatographic media.

    Abstract: A method of forming a frame around a membrane stack for a laterally-fed membrane chromatography device is provided. The method includes placing a membrane stack having one or more membrane layers on a bottom surface of body of a master mold, the body having opposed side walls and opposed end walls, the opposed side walls spaced apart by a distance greater than a length of the membrane stack, the opposed end walls spaced apart by a distance greater than a width of the membrane stack; placing a cap on the body of the master mold to enclose the membrane stack in the master mold, the cap having at least one opening for injecting a material into a space defined by the end walls of the master mold, the side walls of the master mold, end walls of the membrane stack side walls of the membrane stack, the bottom surface of the body and an inner surface of the cap; injecting the material into the space around the membrane stack; and curing the material to form a frame around the membrane stack.
