摘要: A method and a system for improving Web hosting performance, enhancing content distribution and security on the Internet and stabilizing WEB Site connectivity, by means of creating a TCP terminating buffer around subscriber WEB Sites. A DNS agent diverts client requests to WEB Sites to a Virtual Host Accelerating (VHA) Site in closest proximity. The VHA Site comprises a set of physically identical computer units and processing is enhanced on those units by means of a hardware devise to accelerate database searches. The VHA determines if the client request is of a permitted type and if the request can be processed from recycled data. Both static and dynamic requests can be serviced from recycled material and only in certain circumstances are requests forwarded to the WEB Sites by means of permanent open connections. In some cases SSL requests are also served from recycled material. The client receives a response via the VHA Site thereby severing all direct connectivity between the client and the target WEB Sites.

摘要: At least one subscriber unit (SU) (110) can register with a radio frequency (RF) site (120) for radio services. For each registered SU, a SU push to talk over cellular (PoC) client (342-346) can be activated/established. Communications can be mapped at the RF Site (120) between each registered SU (110) and a corresponding SU PoC client (342-346). Each SU PoC client (342-346) at the RF site (120) can be communicatively linked to a remotely located PoC server (132) using a PoC interface (226). The SU PoC client (342-346) is a communication endpoint of the PoC server (132). In one embodiment, a talkgroup PoC client (350-352) can be established at the RF site (120) that is linked to the PoC server (132). Radio communications to and from the SU (110) can be routed through the SU PoC client (342-346) and/or the talkgroup PoC client (350-352) and through the PoC server (132).

摘要: An incident commander computing device dynamically reconfigures subscriber unit usage of radio access networks by first identifying, based at least on a type of incident occurring within a particular geographic area, a first incident response group having a first higher priority for responding to the incident and a second incident response group having a second lower priority for responding to the incident, then identifying a first higher priority radio access network having a sufficient coverage level across the particular geographic area and a second lower priority radio access network having a sufficient coverage level across the particular geographic area, and finally assigning the first incident response group to the first higher priority radio access network and assigning the second incident response group to the second lower priority radio access network.

摘要: A method for use in a mobile communication system for estimating the location of a target mobile station (MS) which includes receiving signals from the target MS (N) at a plurality of receivers (MS1, MS2, MS3) in different locations and calculating the location of the target MS (N) from information obtained from the received signals, wherein at least one of the receivers (MS1) is a searching MS and wherein the calculation of location is carried out by the searching MS (MS1). The method may involve the target MS and the searching MS or MSs communicating by a direct mode of operation (DMO) link. The searching MSs may conveniently have GPS attachments. A mobile station which may be used as the target MS or as a searching MS and a system incorporating the same is also disclosed.

摘要: A communication method is provided in which mobiles operating in a trunk mode operation transmit a message on a direct mode operation channel indicating a trunk mode operation connection is present. If a mobile outside the range of coverage of the trunking system receives the message it will deduce from the message the slot structure of the trunk mode channel and its timing, and will then be able to transmit a request for a direct mode connection on an appropriate slot of the trunk mode channel. Some or all of the mobiles operating in trunk mode will then be able to switch to direct mode to connect with the mobile outside the range of coverage.

摘要: A multi-carrier receiver radio monitors frequency channels associated with at least one talkgroup to which a multi-carrier receiver radio subscribes. The talkgroup is associated with a set of frequency channels that may carry group call activity. The radio monitors each frequency channel of the set of frequency channels associated with the talkgroup for group call activity. During monitoring, when a new call is detected on one frequency channel of the set of frequency channels associated with the talkgroup, the radio joins the new call. While joined to the new call, the radio continues to monitor the set of frequency channels associated with the talkgroup for additional transmissions to the talkgroup and to monitor a set of frequency channels associated with another talkgroup to which the multi-carrier receiver radio also subscribes for group call activity on the other talkgroup.

摘要: A method by which a plurality of users share access to a resource such as a common communications channel. Each user is assigned a priority and is provided with a non-uniform probability distribution function corresponding to that priority, with the sum of the several non-uniform probability distribution functions being uniform. Whenever a user wishes to access the resource, the user selects a random number according to its non-uniform probability distribution function and computes an access time based on the selected random number.
