摘要: An easily removable, non-irritating stretchable sleeve or chest wrap for protecting and securing a PICC line or chest catheter tubing and cap extending externally from the insertion point. The sleeve or chest wrap is easily attached to a patient's arm or body, securing the small length of the external PICC line or the central venous catheter, protecting the tubing and cap from external contaminants, and allowing easy access to the PICC line or the central venous catheter for administration of drugs or nutrients, and access for blood draws. This sleeve allows the patient freedom of movement and is comfortable enough to prevent skin irritation over long-term usage.

摘要: In proteomic research, it is often necessary to screen a large number of polypeptides for the presence of stable structure. Described herein are methods (referred to as MALDI MS-HX and SUPREX) for measuring the stability of proteins in a rapid, high-throughput fashion. The method employs hydrogen exchange to estimate the stability of quantities of unpurified protein extracts, using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry. A method of quantitatively determining the stability of a test protein under native conditions is disclosed. The method includes the steps (a) providing a test protein; (b) contacting the protein with an exchange buffer comprising a denaturant and deuterium, the exchange buffer having a denaturant concentration; (c) contacting the test protein with a mass spectrometry matrix medium; (d) determining a change in mass of the test protein by mass spectrometry; (e) varying the denaturant concentration of the exchange buffer; (f) repeating steps (a)-(e) a desired number of times; and (g) quantitatively determining protein stability based on the change in mass of the test protein as a function of denaturant concentration, whereby the stability of a test protein under native conditions is quantitatively determined.

摘要: A mobile network comprises remote base transceiver station (BTS) nodes (3, 4) linked with a central base station controller (BSC) node (9). The latter is in turn linked with a mobile switching center (MSC, 10), a visitor location register (VLR, 11), and a home location register (HLR, 8). Mobile stations (2, MS-A, MS-B, and MS-C) are located in the cells of the BTSs (3, 4). The remote nodes (3, 4, 3(a), 4(a)) are connected to the central node BSC (9) over a remote backhaul satellite connection. Calls are routed locally while the central nodes continue to manage calls and services from central feature-rich and typically more reliable switches of a core network. This means that calls set up between subscribers on the same remote node get connected within the remote node but call supervision is still carried out by the central nodes. The features and services of the existing core network are preserved. For example, if the calling subscriber is a pre-paid GSM subscriber and their account runs out during the call a release signal will still be sent from the central node to the remote even though the voice traffic is being handled by the remote node.

摘要: A concealable mount for connectors, such as input/output jacks or ports, is presented. The mount comprises a base with and opening for mounting to a support structure. A front panel that is movably connected to the base, is moveable between a first closed position in which the front panel extends along the front face of the base over the opening therein, and a second open position in which at least a portion of the front panel is positioned outwardly from the base. A support extends rearwardly from the front panel and is adapted to mount connectors associated with the panel. A piston arrangement is used to bias the front panel to its open position, and a latch mechanism selectively maintains the front panel in its closed position. In its closed position, the front panel conceals the connectors, and when in its open position, the front panel exposes the support and the connectors.
