    摘要: The invention generally relates to a method and apparatus for collecting condensate from process streams in an integrated fuel cell system. In one aspect, the invention provides a water management subsystem for a fuel cell system. A gas conduit contains a gas at a first pressure. A water tank in the system contains water at a certain level. The water tank has an inlet orifice below the water level. A drain conduit has a first end and a second end. The drain conduit is connected at the first end to the gas conduit, and the drain conduit is connected at the second end to the inlet orifice of the water tank. The water level and the inlet orifice have a vertical height of water between them corresponding to a head pressure greater than the first pressure.

The end plate supports a compressive load to compress the stack, and the end plate includes openings. The manifold is located between the end plate and the stack to communicate the fluids between the pipes and the fluid passageways. The manifold at least partially extends through the openings in the end plate to form a sealed connection between the manifold and the pipes.

    摘要: A hydration system includes fuel cell fluid flow plate(s) and injection port(s). Each plate has flow channel(s) with respective inlet(s) for receiving respective portion(s) of a given stream of reactant fluid for a fuel cell. Each injection port injects a portion of liquid water directly into its respective flow channel in order to mix its respective portion of liquid water with the corresponding portion of the stream. This serves to hydrate at least corresponding part(s) of a given membrane of the corresponding fuel cell(s). The hydration system may be augmented by a metering system including flow regulator(s). Each flow regulator meters an injecting at inlet(s) of each plate of respective portions of liquid into respective portion(s) of a given stream of fluid by corresponding injection port(s).

    摘要: A fluid flow plate for a fuel cell includes a generally planar-shaped body having a sealed chamber therein containing a heat-transferring fluid. A first portion of the body has an outer surface with at least one flow channel for distributing a first reactant fluid to an active region of the fuel cell. The first portion is operable to absorb heat to vaporize the heat-transferring fluid and a second portion, preferably extending beyond the active region, is operable to release heat for condensing vaporized heat-transferring fluid. Also disclosed is a system which includes a fuel cell assembly having a plurality of fuel cells and a plurality of planar-shaped heat pipes disposed between the plurality of fuel cells. A housing comprises a chamber for receiving a reactant fluid. The plurality of planar-shaped heat pipes extend into the chamber for transferring heat between the fuel cell assembly and a reactant fluid.

    摘要: A fluid flow regulating valve is inserted in line with a fluid conducting medium to regulate the flow therethrough over a widely varying range of pressure differentials across the valve. The valve is constructed of a body portion having a fluid passageway therethrough terminating at one end in a land having an empirically derived, compound curved section. A compliant reed is affixed to the body portion adjacent the land and operates to press against and conform with the land in response to increasing fluid pressure differential across the reed whereby the rate of fluid flow through the valve remains substantially constant. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, a second similarly shaped land is provided adjacent the reed and opposite the other land to provide bidirectional flow control. The lands are integral portions of the body portion of the valve which is constructed of molded plastic or the like. The reed comprises thin metal shimstock or the like which has been heat staked to the body portion.
