    摘要: The invention broadly comprises forming a weld preparation groove in the surface of a cylindrical roller, said groove being parallel to the longtitudinal axis of the roller. The groove is filled with a weld material. Subsequently, the outer surface of the cylinder is welded with a compatible welding material to coat the cylinder surface. The weld materials both for the groove and the surface are compatible such that when the surface is welded, the weld material in the groove is recast to form a homogeneous grain structure with the surface weld. The slot is then formed and the surfaces of the facing walls of the slot, the slot edges and the roller surface are uniformly coated.

    摘要: An air duct for cooling rotating tires that broadly funnels or directs air up and into the face of an air fender or rotating tire. The air duct comprises a depending wall having an upper and a bottom edge. Formed within the wall is a leading tunnel section in communication with a baffle section, the tunnel section having a discharge end. The tunnel section defines at least one flow path which channel ambient air through the discharge end and into the baffle section where the air is subsequently directed into the face of air fender or rotating tire. The baffle section is defined as being between the discharge end of the tunnel section and the either the leading surfaces of an air fender or where there is no fender, the leading surfaces of the associated tire.

    摘要: A low-cost, high-temperature heat exchanger is made from a notched piece of metal, the metal being folded back and forth upon itself to form a monolith. The notches in the metal piece create openings, communicating with distinct sides of the monolith. Ducts are attached to the openings. Cut pieces of corrugated metal, which may have a catalyst coating, are inserted between folds of the monolith. The heat exchanger may be used as part of a fuel cell system, or in other industrial applications, to recover waste heat, or to conduct various catalytic and non-catalytic reactions. The invention also includes an element, or building block, for a high-temperature heat exchanger, including a folded metal monolith with metal combs inserted, the monolith and the combs defining seams which are hermetically sealed.

    摘要: A composite horizontally split casing includes an inlet end having upper and lower cast inlet end sections, an outlet end having upper and lower cast outlet end sections, and separable upper and lower semi-cylindrical shell sections extending axially between the inlet and outlet ends. The upper semi-cylindrical shell section is welded at opposite ends respectively to the upper inlet and outlet end sections to form an upper casing half. The lower semi-cylindrical shell section is likewise welded at opposite ends respectively to the lower inlet and outlet end sections to form a lower casing half. External bolting flanges on the upper and lower casing halves provide the means by which the upper casing half is mounted on the lower casing half.
