摘要: The present invention relates to subterranean cementing operations, and more particularly to an apparatus useful in loading cementing plugs and darts into tubulars, and methods of using such apparatus in subterranean cementing operations. An example of a method of the present invention is a method of placing a compressible object having a cross-section within a tubular, including the steps of: reducing the cross-section of the compressible object; placing the compressible object with the reduced cross-section in a tubular; and releasing the compressible object within the tubular. Another example of a method of the present invention is a method of reducing the radial cross-section of a compressible object. Other examples of apparatus of the present invention include apparatus for placing a compressible object into a tubular.

摘要: The present invention is directed to plugs, plug systems and methods for using the plugs and systems in subterranean wells. The plugs comprise an inner mandrel and an outer sleeve formed of a compressible foam. The plug systems include an assembly comprising a top plug and a bottom plug having foam outer sleeves. The plug systems further comprise a float valve into which the assembly fits. In the method, the bottom plug is deployed ahead of the top plug to separate a second fluid from a first fluid and wipe the inside of the pipe string clean of the first fluid. The top plug is used to wipe the inside of the pipe string clean of the second fluid and stop the displacement of the second fluid into the annulus between the casing string and the well bore.

摘要: An orthodontic bracket is provided that includes a cover and a base, wherein the cover can be rotated over an arch wire slot in the base portion. The present bracket invention operates to close when a frangible portion is severed upon initiating rotation of the cover, such that the cover rotates about a hinge, which may include a pin or axle. In one embodiment of the invention, the pin or axle can be moved laterally and/or vertically after the frangible portion is severed. Preferably, the bracket is manufactured to form one piece, such as using an injection molding, machining, or casting process. The bracket offers economical advantages because additional subsequent assembly is not required to attach a cover to a base.

摘要: An inductive power transfer system comprises a primary unit (10), having a primary coil (12) and an electrical drive unit (14) which applies electrical drive signals to the primary coil so as to generate an electromagnetic field. The system also comprises at least one secondary device (30), separable from the primary unit and having a secondary coil (32) which couples with the field when the secondary device is in proximity to the primary unit. A control unit (16) causes a circuit including said primary coil to operate, during a measurement period, in an undriven resonating condition. In this condition the application of the drive signals to the primary coil by the electrical drive unit is suspended so that energy stored in the circuit decays over the course of the period. A decay measurement unit (18) takes one or more measures of such energy decay during the measurement period. In dependence upon said one or more energy decay measures, the control unit controls the electrical drive unit so as to restrict or stop inductive power transfer from the primary unit.

摘要: An improved edgewise orthodontic bracket is disclosed. In one embodiment, a bracket comprises a single pair of opposing T-shaped tie wings which define an archwire slot therebetween. Notches are provided on each of the mesial and distal sides of the center leg of each T-shaped tie wing for selectively receiving a ligating device. The notches are defined in the gingival/occlusal edges of the tie wings and comprise sloped portions that extend labially towards the archwire slot. Convex sidewall portions and convex floor portions are provided in the archwire slot adjacent to the notches. The body of the bracket is interconnected to a base that includes a continuous series of characters that serve as texturing to facilitate bonding of the bracket with a tooth. A discontinuous perimeter rail may be used at the edge of the base. A method for forming a bracket is also provided.

摘要: A method of collecting information about a plurality of test devices connected in a network is provided. The method includes: identifying routable network addresses within a plurality of the network addresses, and sending discovery packets to the plurality of routable network addresses, receiving responses from the test devices, obtaining the information about the test devices, and storing the information so as to associate, for each of the test devices, the test-device information with at least one of the routable network addresses. The routable network addresses are stored in non-volatile memory for repeated use in re-discovery of the test devices in the network.

摘要: A method of receiving signals from an aircraft transponder is provided that enables ADS-B signals to be decoded even though parts of the signal may be overlapped due to interference. A plurality of antennas are summed and subtracted in pairs in order to create directional signal channels, which are then assessed for the confidence of the signals received. Where a channel contains a section of the signal of low confidence, the signal from another channel may be substituted for that section.
