摘要： The invention provides a key system unit comprising a first interface suitable for connection to a plurality of local terminals and a control unit coupled to the first interface. The control unit is operative for receiving a user data signal from the first interface and routing the user data signal toward a selected destination. The control unit has a registry for storing status information, the status information including a local segment and at least one remote segment, the local segment providing a representation of the functional status of the key system unit, the remote segment providing a representation of the functional status of a remote key system unit. The information in the registry can be displayed on a display screen on a local terminal to provide the user with system status information on the local key system unit and the remote key system unit.

Network performance parameters are measured and evaluated to determine whether they signify that connection to the network is below a desired level of operation. If so, the default parameters of the end-points are re-set based on the evaluation. The adjustment may entail re-negotiating the CODEC connection and re-setting parameters for packet size and resetting parameters for jitter buffer size.

摘要： A communications system includes a local community having a local network coupled to various terminals. A server coupled to the local network includes a terminal proxy server and a switch module, such as a soft switch or a private branch exchange (PBX) application. A terminal, such as a remote terminal, can clone any of the terminals in the local community. The remote terminal sends a clone request to the terminal proxy server, which then associates the remote terminal as a clone of a local terminal. The cloning may override the local terminal, in which case the local terminal becomes inactive. Alternatively, the cloning may cause the remote terminal to be a replicate of the local terminal, in which case both terminals remain active. In another feature, multiple soft clients, replicating different local terminals, may co-exist on a single computer platform.
