    Abstract: A method for forming a flameproof transmitter is disclosed. The transmitter includes a flameproof housing including an interior surface, a display aperture and a shoulder adjacent to the aperture at first end of the housing. A transparent panel including an outer face and a perimeter is inserted into the housing from a second end to threadingly engage a fastener feature located on the interior surface of the housing such that the fastener element contacts the transparent panel and retains the transparent panel against the shoulder. A perimeter interface region between the perimeter of the transparent panel and the interior surface of the flameproof housing creates a perimeter gap that does not exceed a predetermined flameproof gap limit and a face interface region between the outer face of the transparent panel and the shoulder creates a face gap that does not exceed the predetermined flameproof gap limit.

    Abstract: An enhanced safety serial bus connector (100) is provided. The enhanced safety serial bus connector (100) includes a shell (110) with a first end (110a) and a second end (110b), the first end (110a) being a terminal end of the shell (110) and having a terminal centerline (CL), and the second end (110b) being the lead end of the shell (110). The enhanced safety serial bus connector (100) also includes an insulating body (120) disposed inside the shell (110) and extending from approximately the first end (110a) to the second end (110b) and a plurality of conductors (130) substantially disposed in the insulating body (120) and extending from the first end (110a) to the second end (110b). The plurality of conductors (130) include contacts (132) that are proximate the first end (110a) and have contact centerlines (X, Y) that are substantially parallel to the terminal centerline (CL), wherein each conductor (130a-130d) of the plurality of conductors (130) are spaced apart from an adjacent conductor (130a-130d) with a distance that substantially conforms to spacing requirements of a serial bus standard that defines a voltage on the plurality of conductors (130) and is equal to or greater than a minimum enhanced safety distance requirement for the voltage defined by the serial bus standard.

    Abstract: An enhanced safety serial bus connector (100) is provided.     Abstract: A flameproof housing (202) includes a display aperture (212), a shoulder (207) adjacent to the display aperture (212), a transparent panel (230) including an outer face (231) and a perimeter (232), and a fastener element (236) configured to hold the transparent panel (230) against the shoulder (207). A perimeter interface region (264) between the perimeter (232) of the transparent panel (230) and the interior surface (203) of the flameproof housing (202) creates a perimeter gap that does not exceed a predetermined flameproof gap limit and a face interface region (260) between the outer face (231) of the transparent panel (230) and the shoulder (207) creates a face gap that does not exceed the predetermined flameproof gap limit.
