Abstract: A search term suggestion engine of a computing device receives characters of user data as the characters are input. The user data is at least part of a search term to be provided to one of multiple applications to search for the search term. An indication of multiple suggestion sources is received from the one application, and one or more suggested search terms are obtained, from the multiple suggestion sources, based on the received characters. One or more suggested search terms can also be obtained from the multiple suggestion sources based on one or more linguistic alternatives for the received characters. The one or more suggested search terms are combined into a combined set of suggested search terms, and the combined set of suggested search terms is returned to a search user interface for presentation to the user.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject matter described herein relate to file system placeholders. In aspects, placeholders may be used by a client to represent remote file system objects. The placeholders may include metadata, searchable text, and may also include none, some, or all of the content of the represented remote file system objects. Search data from the placeholders is integrated into a local search database of the client such that the client is able to satisfy queries and identify relevant local and remote file system objects even when the client is offline with respect to remote storage.

Abstract: A statement in a software code segment for an application that associates the software code segment to a feature is identified. The software code segment includes a first code block and a second code block for the feature. A feature configuration for the feature is read from a manifest that lists a set of features in the application. When a staging option corresponds to a first staging option, the statement is evaluated against the staging option to remove one of the first code block and the second code block in executable code. When the staging option corresponds to a second staging option, the first software code block and the second code block are included in the executable code. The first code block and the second code block are configurable at runtime to be selected or not selected. The first version or the second version of the executable code are output.
