Abstract: Techniques for performing near real-time analytics are provided. In one technique, different client devices generate different sets of events pertaining to the same or different media item. Events generated by one client device are assigned to one process (or machine) while events generated by another client device are assigned to a different process (or machine). Each process aggregates events assigned to it based on a time window to generate an aggregated event. The aggregated events are stored in persistent storage. In response to a request for a report that is associated with a media item, one or more of the aggregated events are retrieved from persistent storage and report data is generated based on the aggregated events. The report data is sent to the requestor for visual presentation.

Abstract: Technologies for using an inferred relationship between data sets to computationally align the data sets and generate actionable output include obtaining, from an online system, a set of member records; inferring a job category based at least partly on job function data extracted from the set of member records; obtaining, from the management system, a set of job records that correspond to the inferred job category; calculating an aggregate alignment score by comparing member skills data extracted from the set of member records to job skills data extracted from the set of job records, where the aggregate alignment score is a measure of a mismatch between the member skills data for the set of member records and the job skills data for the set of job records; based on the aggregate alignment score, identifying a skill that is actionable to address the mismatch between the member skills data and the job skills data; generating actionable output that replaces, modifies, or supplements first course recommendation data that does not map to the identified skill with second course recommendation data that maps to the identified skill.

Abstract: System and methods are directed to operations associated with an approximate nearest neighbor search engine. More specifically, a vector semantically representing content to be added to a search index may be received. The search index may include a neighborhood graph having a plurality of nodes, where each node of the plurality of nodes is associated with content in a content repository. A plurality of nodes within the search index determined to be most semantically similar to the received vector semantically representing content to be added to the search index may be identified. The node corresponding to the received vector semantically representing content to be added to the search index to the search index may be added to the search index and a listing of nearest neighbors associated with each of the of the plurality of nodes may be updated to include an identifier associated with the added node.
