摘要: A plasma display panel includes a first substrate and a second substrate that partially define a plurality of discharge cells in a space therebetween, and an electrode structure including an address electrode extending along a first direction, a dielectric layer formed on the address electrode, a first electrode extending along a second direction intersecting the first direction, and a second electrode extending along the second direction intersecting the first direction, where the first electrode and the second electrode are electrically insulated from the address electrode, and at least a portion of each of the first electrode and the second electrode is associated with each of the discharge cells. At least one of the address electrode and the dielectric layer associated with each of the discharge cells may include a first portion and a second portion. The first portion may have a first thickness along a third direction and the second portion may have a second thickness along the third direction, where the third direction intersects the first direction and the second direction. The first thickness may be different from the second thickness.

摘要: A Plasma Display Panel (PDP) has an opposed discharge structure to reduce its discharge firing voltage and to enhance its luminescence efficiency. The PDP includes: a first substrate and a second substrate arranged to face each other with a space therebetween, the space between the first substrate and the second substrate being divided into a plurality of discharge cells; phosphor layers arranged in the plurality of discharge cells; first electrodes and second electrodes extending in a first direction between the first substrate and the second substrate and alternately disposed in parallel on both sides of respective discharge cells in a second direction intersecting the first direction and shared by adjacent discharge cells, the first electrodes and the second electrodes having floating portions extending toward the second substrate in a direction away from the first substrate and arranged to face one another in spaces corresponding to the respective discharge cells; and address electrodes extending in the second direction between the first substrate and the second substrate, the address electrodes having protruding portions that protrude between the floating portions of the first electrodes and the floating portions of the second electrodes.

摘要: The invention provides a plasma display panel having improved luminous efficiency. The improved luminous efficiency may result in part from at least the configuration and/or arrangement of facing sustain and scan electrodes. In one embodiment, the electrodes may have concave portions that are selectively formed at locators where the electrodes intersect barrier ribs that separate adjacent discharge cells of different colors. This configuration may reduce the charge distribution around the portions where the concave are formed, and may also prevent erroneous discharge from being transferred to adjacent discharge cells. The principles of the invention may be used to produce or light density PDP that increases luminous efficiency and decreases a discharge firing voltage.

摘要: A method of driving a plasma display panel including: obtaining a temperature of the plasma display panel; and generating an electrode driving signal, wherein: if the temperature between first and second reference temperatures, generating a first waveform, if the temperature is less than the first reference temperature, generating a second waveform with an absolute value of a peak value being greater than a corresponding peak value of the first waveform, and if the temperature is greater than the second reference temperature, generating a third waveform with an absolute value of a peak value being less than a corresponding peak value of the first waveform; wherein an absolute value of a difference between the peak values of the second and first waveforms is larger than an absolute value of a difference between corresponding peak values of the third and first waveforms.

摘要: A plasma display panel in which a sustain discharge is generated as an opposed discharge, thereby reducing a discharge firing voltage and improving efficiency. The plasma display panel includes first and second substrates. Address electrodes are formed on the first substrate in a first direction and first electrodes and second electrodes are formed in a second direction crossing the first direction. Each of the first electrodes and the second electrodes has base portions that correspond to discharge spaces of discharge cells and a crossbar portion that connects the base portions along the second direction. The base portions of the first and the second electrodes face each other across a gap in each discharge cell. The length of the portions of the base portions near the first substrate is different from that of the portions of the base portions near the second substrate in the second direction.

The plasma display panel includes a first substrate and a second substrate disposed to face each other, a space between the first substrate and the second substrate being divided into a discharge cell, a phosphor layer formed in the discharge cell, an address electrode formed on the first substrate in a first direction, and a first electrode and a second electrode formed on the first substrate in a second direction crossing the first direction. The first electrode and the second electrode are electrically isolated from the address electrode and corresponding to the discharge cell to face each other with a space therebetween. A shape of the first electrode is substantially different from a shape of the second electrode.

摘要: A method and apparatus for driving a plasma display panel (PDP) with discharge cells arranged between a first substrate and second substrate, address electrodes arranged along a first direction, first electrodes and second electrodes arranged along a second direction crossing the first direction on opposite sides of each of a discharge cell, and scan electrodes arranged along the second direction that partition each discharge cell into two discharge spaces. The two discharge spaces of one discharge cell share a scan electrode. By selectively biasing the first electrodes and second electrodes during an address period, the two discharge spaces can be addressed during a first half and a second half of a single address period or during two distinct address periods. Sustain discharge for a single subfield can be generated in the two discharge spaces during a single sustain discharge period or during two distinct sustain discharge periods.
