A first gasket retention groove is formed in one of the plurality of parallel surfaces that is proximate a top cover. A second gasket retention groove is formed in one of the plurality of parallel surfaces and at least partially surrounds a motor mounting aperture. A third gasket retention groove is formed in one of the plurality of parallel surfaces and at least partially surrounds a connector mounting aperture. A first cured-in-place elastomer is formed on the base plate and is confined by the first gasket retention groove. A second cured-in-place elastomer is formed on the base plate and is confined by the second gasket retention groove. A third cured-in-place elastomer is formed on the base plate and is confined by the third gasket retention groove.

    摘要: The invention includes techniques for mounting a printed circuit board (PCB) on a housing for an electronic device. The housing includes a top cover that combines with a base to form an internal space within the housing. The PCB has at least one tab that extends from it and fits within a recess formed by the base to secure the PCB on a side of the base opposite to the internal space. The electronic device may additionally include a shield such that the PCB fits between the shield and the base and the shield assists in securing the PCB to the base. The housing may also include a locking mechanism to constrain the PCB tab to the base. Embodiments of the invention allow for a PCB to be mounted to an electronic device housing without the use of screws.

    摘要: A base deck is formed by a method of forming the base deck for use in a data storage device. The data storage device includes a motor assembly rotating a disc into a data exchange relationship with a read/write head, in which the motor assembly is supported by the base deck formed by steps for forming the base deck. The base deck includes a base plate upon which a formed-in-place top cover gasket, a formed-in-place motor mount gasket, a formed-in-place connector gasket, a formed-in-place bottom pole damper and a plurality of formed-in-place impact dissipation members are secured to the base plate after the base plate undergoes an application and curing of formed-in-place gasket material. Upon assembly of the data storage device, the cured formed-in-place gaskets provide seals, which preclude contaminants external to the data storage device from migrating into an internal environment of the data storage device.

    摘要: The present invention relates to an air guide for use in a disc drive such that air flow can be redirected to improve the efficiency of a filter located within the disc drive. Embodiments of the present invention provide for an air guide having air guide surfaces that, in conjunction with sides of the disc drive housing, are configured to channel air flow off a spinning disc, through a filter, and back into the mainstream air flow. The air guide may be formed as an integral unit with either the inner major surface of the cover or of the baseplate, or both, such that the air guide may extend over part of the disc surface and provide an effective channel for air flow without the need for additional assembly processes during manufacture.
