Abstract: A balun includes a core having a plurality of through holes and a plurality of conductors wound around a portion between two through holes in the core and constituting first and second coils. The conductors include parallel lines in which a first conductor, a second conductor, and a third conductor are arranged in substantially parallel in this order and are integrated so as to include planar sections. The first and second coils include a continuous portion of first, second, and third winding portions. The first winding portion is formed of the wound second conductor. The second winding portion is formed of the parallel lines wound such that the planar sections cover the first winding portion. The third winding portion is formed of the second conductor wound on the second winding portion. The first coil includes a center tap connected to end portions of the first and third conductors.

Abstract: A coil component having improved magnetic characteristics. The coil component includes a body having a substantially hexahedral shape and including a winding portion formed by winding a conductive wire based on a winding axis and a magnetic body portion; and paired metal terminals having joint portions to which first and second ends of the conductive wire are electrically connected. Each of the paired metal terminals extends outside an outer surface of the body parallel to the winding axis. Of four quadrants separated from one another by imaginary coordinate axes that are orthogonal to one another with the center of the body as the origin in plan view in the winding axis direction, more than half the area of one of the joint portions is disposed in a quadrant not adjacent to the quadrant in which more than half the area of the other joint portion is disposed.
