Abstract: A formed body incorporating a coil by using: a coil formed by winding a conductive wire, and a formed body incorporating the coil, the formed body being formed with a sealing material containing a resin and a magnetic material. The coil is formed by winding the conductive wire so that lead-out ends are positioned at an outer periphery of a wound portion. The formed body is formed so that surfaces of the coil are partially exposed on four side surfaces of the formed body which are parallel to a winding axis of the coil, and the area of a portion of the formed body outside the outer periphery of the wound portion is almost equal to or smaller than the area of a portion of the formed body inside an inner periphery of the wound portion of the coil.

Abstract: An inductor includes a body that includes a coil and that contains a magnetic portion in which the coil is embedded, and a pair of outer electrodes that is disposed on a mounting surface of the body. The coil includes a winding portion formed by winding a conductive wire that has a coating layer and that has a pair of wide surfaces, and a pair of extended portions that extends from the winding portion. The pair of extended portions includes a twisted portion that is connected to the winding portion. The twisted portion is twisted about a virtual center line of an end portion of the winding portion, and a twisted part bends toward the mounting surface about an axis substantially perpendicular to the wide surfaces at the end portion. End portions of the pair of extended portions near the mounting surface are connected to the pair of outer electrodes.

Abstract: An inductor includes a body including a magnetic portion and a coil embedded in the magnetic portion and outer electrodes. The coil includes a wound portion formed by winding a conductive wire having a pair of wide surfaces in upper and lower layers and first and second lead-out portions extending from end portions of the wound portion at outermost peripheries of the upper and lower layers. One wide surface of a distal end portion of the first lead-out portion is exposed at a mounting surface of the body, a first surface adjacent to the mounting surface, and a corner portion therebetween. One wide surface of a distal end portion of the second lead-out portion is exposed at the mounting surface, a second surface adjacent to the mounting surface, and a corner portion therebetween. The outer electrodes cover the exposed wide surfaces of the first and second lead-out portions.

Abstract: A surface-mount inductor includes an element assembly having a core, a coil, and a magnetic material; and a pair of external terminals disposed on a mounting surface of the element assembly.
