摘要： An active substrate is provided, which comprises a switching element comprising a first drive region and a second drive region, a signal line being connected to the first drive region, a pixel electrode connected to the second drive region, a first layer comprising at least one of a semiconductor material and a conductive material, and connected to the pixel electrode, a second layer comprising at least one of a semiconductor material and a conductive material, and connected to the signal line; and an insulating film provided between the first layer and the second layer. At least a portion of the first layer and at least a portion of the second layer overlap each other so that the first layer and the second layer are short-circuited by applying first energy to the insulating film.

摘要： In an active matrix substrate for allowing a point defect of a defect pixel portion, among a plurality of pixel portions arranged two-dimensionally, to be repaired by radiation of energy, the active matrix substrate includes one of a first protection member for absorbing excessive energy power and preventing pieces of a conductive material from being scattered; and a second protection member for preventing pieces of a conductive material from being scattered and for preventing a conductive layer from bulging. One of the first protection member and the second protection member is provided above at least one energy radiation portion.

A first auxiliary capacitor electrode and a second auxiliary capacitor electrode are connected to the drain electrode and respective connection portions between the drain electrode and the auxiliary capacitor electrodes are formed of a semiconductor material.

摘要： A vertically aligned system liquid crystal display in which deterioration in display quality such as graininess, burn-in, afterimages due to disorder in orientation of liquid crystal molecules based on a connection electrodes for interconnecting sub-pixel electrodes can be prevented, and a method for manufacturing such liquid crystal display. In the liquid crystal display, each pixel electrode (2) of a liquid crystal panel is constituted by combining at least two sub-pixel electrodes (2a), and each sub-pixel electrode (2a) is connected through a bridge (3) narrower than the sub-pixel electrode (2a). A vertically aligned system in which liquid crystal molecules tilt symmetrically to the central axis of orientation in the direction perpendicular to the surface of each sub-pixel electrode (2a) upon application of a voltage is employed. The bridge (3) is provided at a position asymmetric to the sub-pixel electrode (2a).
