摘要： A silver halide emulsion comprising radiation sensitive silver halide grains exhibiting a face centered cubic crystal lattice structure containing a hexacoordination complex of an iridium ion in which at least half of the coordination sites in the hexacoordination complex are provided by halogen or pseudohalogen ligands, and at least one coordination site is provided by a ligand comprising a azole ring containing a chalcogen atom and a nitrogen atom, wherein the azole ring is substituted at the 5-position with a halide ion. The invention provides emulsions containing with a preferred class of iridium dopants which are especially useful for improving reciprocity performance in silver halide emulsions with minimal or no impact on other aspects of photographic performance. These dopants give a superior balance of reciprocity and other photographic properties compared to other iridium dopants exemplified in the prior art.

摘要： A photographic emulsion is disclosed comprised of a dispersing medium and radiation-sensitive silver halide grains with greater than 50 percent of total grain projected area being accounted for by grains containing a host portion of a face centered cubic rock salt crystal lattice structure and a first epitaxial phase containing greater than 90 mole percent iodide. The host portion is tabular, being bounded by an exterior having first and second parallel major faces joined by a peripheral edge. The first epitaxial phase accounts for less than 60 percent of total silver, and the first epitaxial phase is restricted to a portion of the exterior of the host portion that includes at least 15 percent of the major faces.

摘要： This invention provides a multicolor photographic element comprising a support bearing a cyan dye image-forming unit comprising at least one red-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith at least one cyan dye-forming coupler, a magenta dye image-forming unit comprising at least one green-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith at least one magenta dye-forming coupler, a yellow dye image-forming unit comprising at least one blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith at least one yellow dye-forming coupler, wherein at least one of said emulsion layers comprises large tabular grains having an average equivalent circular diameter of greater than 3 &mgr;m and contains a one equivalent image dye-forming coupler and a fragmentable electron donating compound of the formula: X—Y′ or a compound which contains a moiety of the formula —X—Y′; wherein X is an electron donor moiety, Y′ is a leaving proton H or a leaving group Y, with the proviso that if Y′ is a proton, a base, &bgr;−, is covalently linked directly or indirectly to X, and wherein: 1) X—Y′ has an oxidation potential between 0 and about 1.4 V; and 2) the oxidized form of X—Y′ undergoes a bond cleavage reaction to give the radical X• and the leaving fragment Y′; and, optionally, 3) the radical X• has an oxidation potential ≦−0.7 V (that is, equal to or more negative than about −0.7 V).
