Abstract: Flavin coenzymes, the active forms of vitamin B2, are assayed by using boiling perchloric acid to rupture bacterial cells, free the flavin from protein, and hydrolyze flavin adenine dinucleotide to flavin mononucleotide, which is reduced with sodium borohydride and palladium chloride and reacted with the enzyme luciferase to produce light with intensity directly proportional to flavin concentration.
