Abstract: A communication system is disclosed in which a base station manages the transmission of on-demand system information to optimise the trade-off between the additional signalling overhead associated with on-demand transmission and the resource usage inefficiencies associated with the sometimes unnecessary transmission of system information on a periodic basis. The base station manages switching from on-demand transmission to periodic transmission, and vice versa, based on one or more utilisation thresholds.

Abstract: A communication system is disclosed in which a communication device and a base station initially communicate using a first bandwidth. The communication device and the base station switch to using a second bandwidth, wherein the second bandwidth is different to the first bandwidth, and the communication device monitors for control data transmitted, by the base station, using a second control resource set that is conveyed in the second bandwidth.

Abstract: A communication system is disclosed in which a base station apparatus obtains, from at least one secondary node (SN) handling user-plane transmissions for a user equipment (UE), information identifying a total integrity protected data rate for all Protocol Data Unit (PDU) sessions associated with the UE at that SN. When the information from the at least one SN indicates that the total integrity protected data rate for all PDU sessions associated with the UE at that SN exceeds an associated data rate portion, the base station apparatus updates at least one of: said data rate portion; and at least one PDU session associated with the UE at that SN.

Abstract: A communication system is disclosed in which a base station performs Listen-Before-Talk (LBT) communication with an item of user equipment (UE) via at least one cell. When the base station of the UE detects a failure associated with the LBT communication in at least one cell, the base station transmits a signalling message to another node (e.g., a central unit, a master node, a secondary node, or a core network node), the signalling message comprising information indicating that LBT failure has been detected. The information is used by the other node in managing the LBT communication with the UE (e.g., releasing resources, deactivating cells, etc.).

Abstract: In one aspect, a method performed by a base station in a Non-Public Network includes: operating a closed access group (CAG) cell; establishing a communication connection with a user equipment (UE) in the CAG cell, wherein the CAG cell is associated with a CAG having an associated CAG identifier; suspending the communication connection; receiving, from a further base station, a first message indicating that the UE has requested resumption of the communication connection in a CAG cell operated by the further base station, the first message including a CAG identifier of a CAG which the CAG cell operated by the further base station is associated with; performing CAG membership verification for the CAG identified by the CAG identifier in the first message; and sending, to the further base station, a second message indicating a result of the CAG membership verification.
