Abstract: In the endoscopic examination support apparatus, the image acquisition means acquires captured images during removal of an endoscope. The posture change estimation means estimates a relative posture change of an endoscope camera from the captured images. The distance estimation means estimates a distance between a surface of colon and the endoscope camera from the captured images. The intestinal tract direction estimation means estimates an intestinal tract direction of the colon based on the posture change and the distance. The calculation means calculates a direction in which the endoscope camera should be directed, based on the intestinal tract direction and the relative posture of the endoscope camera. The output means outputs a display image including the direction in which the endoscope camera should be directed, to a display device. The display image can be used for support such as user's decision making.
