Abstract:
A system for melting thermoplastic material and supplying the molten material under pressure and at a controlled temperature to one or more applicators. The material is melted in a melting tank and pumped from there through a filter into a manifold for distribution. The pump is a single piston, double acting, sealless pump and is driven by an air motor including appropriate air valves and valve controls. From the manifold the molten material is distributed to one or more heated, insulated hoses, each of which is to be connected at its opposite end to an applicator. The temperature of the material in the melting tank and in each hose is separately thermostatically controlled.
Abstract:
An improved combination filter, check valve, relief valve cartridge for use in a hot melt applicator system of the type which includes a reservoir in which the hot melt material is heated and from which it is pumped through a manifold block to an applicator gun. The cartridge is so constructed that it may be installed or removed from the block as a unit and the filter may be separately removed for cleaning or replacement.
Abstract:
A device for sensing and controlling a liquid level in a reservoir or container. The device uses a counterbalanced sensing element in the form of a displacer adapted to enter the liquid through the surface and displace a certain volume thereof. The displacer is mounted on an arm of the lever, the lever being counterbalanced to respond to a liquid head. The lever also carries a switch-actuating mechanism which is moved in response to change in the liquid level so that the switch controls the supply of liquid to the reservoir to maintain the desired level.
