    摘要: In one example, a pump assembly configured to connect to a manifold of an applicator includes a pump, a drive motor unit, and a thermal isolation region. The drive motor unit includes an output drive shaft connected to the pump and a drive motor configured to rotate the output drive shaft about a drive axis. The thermal isolation region is between the pump and the drive motor. The thermal isolation region includes an isolation plate and a thermal isolation frame. In one example, a cooling sleeve surrounds a proximal end portion of the drive motor unit so as to define an air flow passage between the proximal end portion of the drive motor unit and an inner surface of the cooling sleeve. In one example, the pump assembly further includes a coupling operatively connecting the pump and the drive shaft, the coupling including an insulating element therein.

    摘要: A dispensing module and method of dispensing an adhesive includes a dispenser body having a valve element and a nozzle. The nozzle includes a nozzle member, a sealing zone, and a valve seat. The nozzle member includes a liquid passageway having a bore, a cylindrical surface, a second converging surface, and a shoulder. The sealing zone is defined by the cylindrical surface and extends from the bore toward the shoulder and engages the valve element to close a first volume of the liquid passageway from the inlet. The valve seat is defined by the shoulder and the second converging surface and has a circular line of contact that engages the valve element to close a second volume of the liquid passageway from the inlet. The first volume reduces to the second volume as the valve element moves distally along the sealing zone for discharging the adhesive.

    摘要: An applicator for dispensing adhesive is disclosed. The applicator includes a manifold, at least one dispensing module coupled to the manifold, a supply channel configured to contain at least a portion of the adhesive, a recirculation channel configured to contain at least a portion of the adhesive, and a recirculation pump assembly connected to the manifold. The recirculation pump assembly includes an inlet in fluid communication with the recirculation channel, an outlet in fluid communication with the supply channel, a gear assembly, and a drive motor coupled to the gear assembly and operable to pump the adhesive, where the drive motor is configured to operate at an adjustable number of revolutions per minute (RPM). The recirculation pump assembly can be configured to move at least a portion of the adhesive from the recirculation channel to the supply channel, such that a first pressure of the adhesive in the recirculation channel is substantially equal to a second pressure of the adhesive in the supply channel.

    摘要: A contact nozzle for simultaneously coating a plurality of elastic strands moving in a machine direction with an adhesive is described. The contact nozzle includes a single fluid inlet for receiving the adhesive from a fluid module, a first inverted V-shaped notch, a second inverted V-shaped notch, a third inverted V-shaped notch, and a mounting surface configured to abut the fluid module when the contact nozzle is coupled to the fluid module. Each inverted V-shaped notch extends along the contact nozzle in the machine direction, has an open bottom end, a circular closed top end. Each inverted V-shaped notch includes an adhesive orifice in fluid communication with the single fluid inlet for receiving the adhesive for directing the adhesive into contact with an upper surface of an elastic strand.
