Abstract: A combustion apparatus includes a combustion part, a blower fan, an ignition device, and a control part. The control part selectively performs continuous combustion in which the combustion part is operated to burn continuously and intermittent combustion in which a combustion period and a non-combustion period of the combustion part are repeatedly provided. When the continuous combustion is stopped, the control part extinguishes the combustion part and operates the blower fan to perform a scavenging operation. When the combustion period in the intermittent combustion is ended, the control part extinguishes the combustion part and operates the blower fan to perform a scavenging operation in the non-combustion period. A total air blowing amount of the blower fan in the scavenging operation during the non-combustion period is set to be less than a total air blowing amount of the blower fan in the scavenging operation when the continuous combustion is stopped.

Abstract: A reverse combustion type combustion apparatus (1) includes a combustion section (2) that combusts fuel in a downward direction, heat exchangers (4, 5) disposed under the combustion section (2), and an exhaust box (6) disposed under the heat exchangers (4, 5). The exhaust box (6) is a molded product made from a synthetic resin material; the exhaust box (6) includes an opening portion (30) for introduction of combustion exhaust gases generated by an upper portion, a fixing portion (33) for fixing the heat exchanger (5), and an inclined bottom portion (35) that collects condensed water generated by the heat exchanger (5); and, at the lower end portion of the exhaust box (6), at least three legs (40) are integrally formed and make the exhaust box (6) stand up by itself.

Abstract: A hot water supply device 1 includes a fin-and-tube type heat exchanger (21) that applies heat to fresh water with combustion gases, and a heat exchanger casing (22) for housing the heat exchanger (21), and in order to be able reliably to determine by a simple method whether the hot water supply device is clogged by lime scale, there are provided a temperature detector (31) for detecting the surface temperature of the heat exchanger casing (22) and a control unit (7) that determines that scale has built up in the heat exchange tubing (27) of the heat exchanger (21) when the temperature detected by this temperature detector (31) is greater than a set temperature.
