Abstract: The invention provides novel compounds of the formula:

AND SALTS THEREOF, IN WHICH R1 is n-butyl, cycloalkyl having five to eight ring carbon atoms, cyclohexenyl, 4methylcyclohexyl, 4,4-dimethylcyclohexyl, 4-methoxycyclohexyl, 2,5-endomethylenecyclohexyl or endoethylenecyclohexyl, R2 is hydrogen or methoxy, methyl, bromine or chlorine in position four or in position five, R3 is methyl or hydrogen, R4 and R5 are each hydrogen or methyl but not both methyl at the same time, or R4 and R5 may together form a bond completing a benzo(b)furan ring system. These compounds are useful in the oral treatment of maturityonset diabetis mellitus.
