Abstract: A method is described synchronization in a communication system which comprises a master anchor device, a first anchor device, and a second anchor device. The method comprises: i) transmitting, by the master anchor device, a first message to the first anchor device and to the second anchor device using a first ultra-wide band (UWB) communication, wherein the first message is indicative of a master clock of the master anchor device receiving, by the first anchor device, the first message, and synchronizing a first clock of the first anchor device based on the master clock, and iii) receiving, by the second anchor device, the first message, and synchronizing a second clock of the second anchor device based on the master clock. Furthermore, a communication system and a use of UWB communication is described.

Abstract: UWB ranging methods and apparatus are disclosed. The method comprises a ranging communication with a plurality of responder devices, the ranging communication comprising: transmitting, by an initiator device, a polling signal in a time slot; receiving a respective response from each of the plurality of responder devices, overlapping and in a next time slot, each response comprising: synchronization bits, and a frame comprising Start of Frame Delimiter, and a Scrambled Timestamp Sequence; wherein the STS comprises a sequence of segments each preceded by a respective guard interval, wherein a specific one of the segments comprises data derived from a ranging key and a responder-identifier each unique to the respective responder among the plurality of responders, wherein a sequence-number of the specific segment is unique to the respective response, and wherein a remainder of the segments each comprise the same data derived from a predetermined common key and predetermined common data.

Abstract: An Ultra-Wideband (UWB) wireless communication device includes a scanning circuit, an ordering circuit, and a selecting circuit. The scanning circuit is configured for scanning at least a channel supported by the communication device for detecting a plurality of patterns of a UWB frame format. The ordering circuit is configured for ordering the plurality of patterns in a patterns list according to a predefined quality parameter. The selecting circuit is configured for selecting at least one of the patterns in the list to start an Ultra Wideband (UWB) wireless communications.
