    Abstract: A method for operating system to transmit a plurality of frames from a first communication device to a second communication device is disclosed. The method incudes generating a security-sequence using a security-sequence-counter-value, changing the security-sequence-counter-value to a new security-sequence-counter-value; encrypting, at the first communication device, the security-sequence using a first-derived-session-key to provide an encrypted-security-sequence-counter-value; providing, at the first communication device, a frame comprising the security-sequence and encrypted-security-sequence-counter-value, transmitting a first-type frame from the first communication device to the second communication device, decrypting the encrypted-security-sequence-counter-value using the first-derived-session-key to provide the security-sequence-counter-value, configuring a security-sequence detector to detect a security-sequence using the security-sequence-counter-value, setting a key-validity-counter-value in accordance with the number of first-type frames transmitted since the first-derived-session-key was updated; and updating the first-derived-session-key based on a master-session-key in response to the key-validity-counter-value reaching an update value.

    Abstract: A processing module for a receiver device. The processor module comprises a channel estimate generation component arranged to output channel estimate information for a received signal, and a timestamping module arranged to determine a ToA measurement for a marker within a packet of the received signal based at least partly on the channel estimate information for the received signal generated by the channel estimate generation component. The channel estimate generation component comprises a validation component arranged to derive a validation pattern for the packet within the received signal for which a ToA measurement is to be determined, identify a section of the packet containing a validation sequence, and perform cross-correlation between at least a part of the validation sequence within the packet and at least a part of the generated validation pattern to generate channel estimate validation information.

    Abstract: A frequency synthesizer device provides amplitude control. Using switch circuit operating in a first mode, a charge voltage is applied to an oscillator circuit that an inductive-capacitive (LC) tank circuit. The LC tank circuit has a capacitive element, and an inductive element that is connected to the capacitive element. Using the switch circuit operating in a second mode, the LC tank circuit is enabled to oscillate. Using driver circuits that are response to a voltage applied to the tank circuit, current is reinforced in the LC tank, and the reinforcement is based upon a transconductance gain of the driver circuits. Using a calibration circuit, an amplitude of an output signal from the oscillator circuit is detected. In response to the detected amplitude, the transconductance gain is adjusted by enabling or disabling auxiliary circuits from plurality of auxiliary circuits.

    Abstract: A method is described for transmitting a payload between a mobile device and a plurality of anchor devices via a ranging-capable physical layer, in particular an ultra-wide band (UWB), communication.
