Also, an ink-jet recording apparatus is provided with a control means for controlling the timing of the start of the second signal and the timing of the start of the third signal according to the environmental temperature. In the ink-jet recording apparatus, the discharge speed of ink drops is made constant by regulating the start time of the second signal so as to make constant the drawing position of a meniscus when the ink drops are discharged. Further, the pressure generating chamber is expanded again by applying the third signal at the time the vibration of the meniscus generated by the discharge of the ink drops is moved closest to the pressure generating chamber, so that the kinetic energy of the meniscus moving to the nozzle can effectively be attenuated.

A method of driving an ink jet recording head comprising the steps of: retreating a vibrating plate to a predetermined position from a nozzle opening at such a speed as to allow a meniscus at the nozzle opening to be jetted from the nozzle opening while applying a drive voltage to a piezoelectric vibrating element; holding the vibrating plate at the position; and advancing the vibrating plate toward the nozzle opening when the meniscus has returned to a position 1/3 or more of the farthest retreat position thereof. As a result, a pressure chamber contracted to thereby apply pressure to ink when inertial stream of the ink become stable and heads toward the nozzle opening, producing an ink droplet to be jetted at a predetermined speed irrespective of the position of the meniscus.

Filter element member is ejected to a motherboard 12 from a plurality of nozzles 27 four times so as to form the filter element 3 in a predetermined thickness. By doing this, it is possible to prevent difference in the thickness in a plurality of the filter elements 3 and to equalize light transparency in planar manner. Thus, in an ejecting apparatus, a color filter can be formed in more common way at low cost and more efficiently. Also, it is possible to provide an ejecting apparatus which can equalize factors such as electrooptical characteristics of the electrooptical members, color displaying characteristics by the liquid crystal apparatuses, and illuminating characteristics by an EL surface.
