    摘要: There is provided a recording apparatus including a recording head which includes a nozzle plate having conductive property including an opening and for ejecting ink toward a medium to be recorded from the opening, an absorbing member disposed so as to oppose the nozzle plate in the ejecting direction of the ink from the recording head and for absorbing the ink not adhered to the medium to be recorded, an electrode disposed so as to make contact with the absorbing member, and an electric potential difference generator for generating an electric potential difference between the nozzle plate and the electrode and electrically attracting the ink not adhered to the medium to be recorded toward the electrode side. The electric potential difference generator generates an electric potential difference so that the magnitude of the electric potential difference is varied in accordance with a distance between a portion of the absorbing member to which the ink is absorbed and the nozzle plate.

    摘要: A transport device includes a set section, a sheet sensor, and a feeding member. When a detection member does not retract, the sheet sensor outputs an OFF-detection signal. The feeding member is displaced between a feed position and a non-feed position on the basis of the detection signal. At the feed position, the feeding member comes in contact with the sheet set in the set section from above and feeds the sheet toward the downstream side on a transport path. At the non-feed position, the feeding member is separated upward from the feed position. A method, which detects a sheet in the transport device, includes displacing the feeding member from the non-feed position to the feed position, and detecting that the sheet does not exist in the set section when an OFF-detection signal is output from the sheet sensor while the feeding member is positioned at the feed position.

    摘要: A printing apparatus has a cartridge attachment section including a terminal block having apparatus-side terminals disposed on its inclined surface, and a printing material supply pipe. Among the apparatus-side terminals, one apparatus-side ground terminal located on their center in Y direction is protruded to a greater height than the other plural apparatus-side terminals. A printing material cartridge has a circuit board, a printing material supply port, and a board mount portion that is inclined at an acute angle relative to a plane extended from an opening face of the printing material supply port. The circuit board is arranged such that one cartridge-side terminal on the circuit board comes into contact with the apparatus-side ground terminal prior to the other cartridge-side terminals in the process of attachment of the printing material cartridge to the cartridge attachment section. This arrangement enables the printing material cartridge to be attached in an adequate correct orientation or alignment to the printing apparatus. This arrangement also reduces the possibility of failure caused by application of a high voltage to the circuitry of the printing material cartridge.
