摘要: An optical relay (500) includes a glare trap (512) that in one embodiment has one or more surfaces configured to reflect light impinging the surface (550) at an angle less than a first angle (722) relative to a normal line (710), and to transmit light impinging the surface (550) at an angle greater than a second angle (723) relative to the normal line (710). In other embodiments, the glare trap (512) reflects light impinging at an angle greater than a first angle and transmit light impinging at an angle that is less than a second angle. The separation between the first angle (722) and second angle (723) can be on the order of 20 degrees or more, but this angle can be reduced or eliminated when polarized light is used within the optical relay (500).

摘要: Radiation dosimeters and dosimeter badges. The dosimeter badges include first and second parts which are connected to join using a securement to produce a sealed area in which at least one dosimeter is held and protected. The badge parts are separated to expose the dosimeters to a stimulating laser beam used to read dose exposure information therefrom. The badge is constructed to allow automated disassembly and reassembly in a uniquely fitting relationship. An electronic memory is included to provide calibration and identification information used during reading of the dosimeter. Dosimeter mounts which reduce thermal heating requirements are shown. Dosimeter constructions and production methods using thin substrates and phosphor binder-layers applied thereto are also taught.

摘要: A thermally dissipative housing (200) includes a rigid housing (203) and a compliant heat spreader (215). The compliant heat spreader (215) is thermally coupled to a heat-generating component (201) disposed within the thermally dissipative housing (200). The compliant heat spreader (215) removes heat from the heat-generating component (201) and transfers it along an interior surface of the rigid housing (203) by passing along an interior (209) of the rigid housing (203) across at least a portion of the interior surface area (211) of the rigid housing (203). The compliant heat spreader (215) transfers heat to the surface of the rigid housing (203) without substantially interfering with the shock absorbing properties of the rigid housing (203).

摘要: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for remotely measuring radiation levels. Such are particularly useful for measuring relatively high levels or dosages of radiation being administered in radiation therapy. They are also useful for more general radiation level measurements where remote sensing from the remaining portions of the apparatus is desirable. The apparatus uses a beam generator, such as a laser beam, to provide a stimulating beam. The stimulating beam is preferably of wavelengths shorter than 6 microns, or more advantageously less than 2 microns. The stimulating beam is used to stimulate a remote luminescent sensor mounted in a probe which emits stored luminescent energy resulting from exposure of the sensor to ionizing radiation. The stimulating beam is communicated to the remote luminescent sensor via transmissive fiber which also preferably serves to return the emission from the luminescent sensor. The stimulating beam is advantageously split by a beam splitter to create a detector beam which is measured for power during a reading period during which the luminescent phosphor is read. The detected power is preferably used to control the beam generator to thus produce desired beam power during the reading period. The luminescent emission from the remote sensor is communicated to a suitable emission detector, preferably after filtering or other selective treatment to better isolate the luminescent emission.
