Abstract: An electrochemical device includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator, and an electrolyte solution. The electrolyte solution includes an additive. An electrolyte retention coefficient of the electrochemical device is a g/Ah, satisfying: 0.5≤a ≤3.5. Based on a total mass of the electrolyte solution, a mass percentage of the additive is b %, satisfying: 0.005≤b>3. The additive includes at least one of lithium bis(oxalato)borate, vinyl ethylene carbonate, methylene methane disulfonate, triallyl phosphate, trifluoromethyl ethylene carbonate, or prop-1-ene-1,3-sultone. In the electrochemical device of this application, an appropriate electrolyte retention amount is maintained, and the foregoing additive is added in the electrolyte solution in an appropriate amount, thereby effectively improving the low-temperature discharge performance and safety performance of the electrochemical device.
