Abstract: A secondary battery includes a metal housing and an electrode assembly arranged inside the metal housing. The electrode assembly includes a negative electrode. The negative electrode includes a negative electrode material layer. The negative electrode material layer includes a binder. The binder includes a first binder and a second binder, where the first binder is selected from styrene-butadiene rubber polymers and the second binder is selected from polyacrylic acid polymers. A weight-average molecular weight of the first binder is 40,000 to 300,000, and a weight-average molecular weight of the second binder is 400,000 to 2,000,000. A mass percentage of the first binder is 10% to 90% based on a mass of the binder.

Abstract: A negative electrode composition, a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery, including the same, a lithium secondary battery including the negative electrode, and a method for preparing a negative electrode composition are disclosed. The negative electrode composition including a silicon-containing active material; a first negative electrode conductive material; and a negative electrode binder. The negative electrode binder has a composite structure wherein the first negative electrode conductive material is bonded to a surface of the negative electrode binder. The bond is a bond formed by a radical polymerization reaction. The negative electrode binder has a modulus of 1×103 MPa or more and 1×104 MPa or less at 25° C. The silicon-containing active material is present in an amount ranging from 60 parts by weight or more based on 100 parts by weight of the negative electrode composition.

Abstract: An electrochemical cell is provided, which includes a cathode comprising a three dimensional (3D) porous cathode structure, an anode, an electrolyte separator, comprised of a ceramic material, located between the cathode and the anode, and a cathode current collector, wherein the cathode is located between the cathode current collector and the electrolyte separator. The 3D porous cathode structure includes ionically conducting electrolyte strands extending through the cathode from the cathode current collector to the electrolyte separator, pores extending through the cathode from the cathode current collector to the electrolyte separator, and an electronically conducting network extending on sidewall surfaces of the pores from the cathode current collector to the electrolyte separator.

Abstract: A binder, an electrode and a lithium secondary battery comprising the same are described, wherein the binder includes a first block including a polymer containing functional groups substitutable with lithium ions and a second block. The second block may include a polymer containing oxygen atoms in the main chain. With such a binder, it is possible to prevent the agglomeration of the slurry for preparing the electrode, thereby preventing the occurrence of cracks on the surface of the electrode and improving the life characteristics of the lithium secondary battery.
