摘要： A cartridge detachably mountable to an electrophotographic image forming apparatus main body for forming an image on a recording medium. The apparatus main body includes: a main body guide; a restraining unit movable with respect to the main body guide; and a main body abutting portion. The cartridge includes: a frame; a guided portion protruding from the frame so as to be guided by the main body guide, and abutting on the restraining unit as the cartridge is being mounted in the apparatus main body to be restrained from moving to the downstream side in a mounting direction; and a moving member movable with respect to the frame to abut on the main body abutting portion to be moved to act on the restraining unit to move the restraining unit to an allowable position in which the guided portion is allowed to move to the downstream side.

摘要： A disassembling tool pushes first and second coupling members out of a process cartridge that also has an electrophotographic photosensitive member, and first and second coupling members for rotatably coupling first and second frames of the cartridge together. The disassembling tool includes first and second base bodies, first and second engagement portions provided on the first and second base bodies respectively, and engageable with the cartridge to position the cartridge when the tool is mounted on the cartridge, and first and second pushing-out portions provided for movement relative to the first and second base bodies, respectively, for pushing out the first and second coupling members, respectively. The first and second engagement portions are provided at a location opposed to the first and second pushing-out portions, respectively, in a movement direction in which the first and second pushing-out portions are moved, respectively.

摘要： A developing device develops an electrostatic latent image formed on an electrophotographic photosensitive member. The developing device is mountable to a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. The developing device includes a developer carrying member for feeding a developer to the electrophotographic photosensitive member to develop the electrostatic latent image formed on the electrophotographic photosensitive member, a first electroconductive portion, a second electroconductive portion for cooperating with the first electroconductive portion to provide an electrostatic capacity, a first electrical contact for receiving a voltage to be applied to the first electroconductive portion from the main assembly of the electrophotographic image forming apparatus, and a second electrical contact for transmitting, to the main assembly of the electrophotographic image forming apparatus, an electric signal corresponding to an electrostatic capacity between the first electroconductive portion and the second electroconductive portion when a voltage is applied to the first electroconductive portion to detect a remaining amount of the developer by the main assembly of the electrophotographic image forming apparatus.

摘要： A developing device, a process cartridge and an image forming apparatus are provided which can suppress and prevent the slipping-through of a developer to the end portions of a developing sleeve and can suppress and prevent the leakage of the developer by a shock or the like. A developer sleeve 31 having a magnet roller 32 therein is disposed in the opening portion of a developing container 30, and magnet seal members 34 for regulating the movement of the toner are disposed in non-contact with the developing sleeve 31 on the outer peripheral surface of the opposite ends of the developing sleeve 31, which is adjacent to the developing container 30. The magnet roller 32 has a plurality of magnetic poles, and N and S poles are magnetized to multiple magnetic poles on the inner peripheral surfaces of the magnet seal members 34. The magnet roller and the magnet seal members are formed so that the peak value Br1 of the magnetic-flux density by each magnetic poles of the magnet roller in the direction of a normal to the surface position of the developing sleeve is smaller than the peak value Br2 of the magnetic-flux density by the opposing magnetic poles of the magnet seal members in the direction of the normal to the surface position of the developing sleeve.

摘要： The present invention provides a method for recycling a process cartridge removably mountable to an image forming apparatus, comprising the steps of: (a) dividing a process cartridge into a first frame including an image bearing member, and a second frame including a developing means and a developer containing means for containing developer used by the developing means and having an opening through which the developer is supplied to the developing means; (b) thereafter, removing the developing means from the second frame; (c) thereafter, replenishing developer to the developer containing means through the opening; (d) thereafter, removably attaching a seal for closing the opening to the opening; and (e) thereafter, locking the first and second frames to each other, thereby assembling the process cartridge.

摘要： A method is disclosed for attaching a sheet for receiving toner removed from an image bearing member to a frame. The method includes the steps of adhering the sheet to the frame, using an adhesive, while bending the frame and releasing the frame after the sheet is adhered to the frame. A toner-guiding sheet for guiding toner removed from an image bearing member to a toner-receiving unit is also disclosed. The sheet is widened near a central portion in a longitudinal direction so that the sheet edge will conform to the bent shape of an attachment surface. A cleaning device is also disclosed. The cleaning device may include a frame and a sheet attached to the frame by an adhesive in a condition that a tension force is applied to the sheet. Further, the cleaning device may include a cleaning container having a wall that is thinner at a position near an attachment surface for a sheet than at a position away from the attachment surface, to facilitate bending of the attachment surface during application of a sheet to the attachment surface.
