    摘要: A magnetic recording medium is described, comprising a nonmagnetic support having thereon a single magnetic layer or plural magnetic layers containing ferromagnetic particles dispersed in a binder, wherein said ferromagnetic particles are ferromagnetic particles of the magnetic iron oxide type having an adsorption amount of stearic acid of from 3.times.10.sup.-6 to 6.times.10.sup.-6 mol/m.sup.2 per a surface area thereof; said binder contains at least one polymer having at least one polar group selected from the group consisting of --SO.sub.3 M, --OSO.sub.3 M, --OPO(OM').sub.2, --COOM and --PO(OM').sub.2, in which M represents Na, Li, K, a hydrogen atom, NR.sub.4 or NHR.sub.3, M' represents Na, Li, K, a hydrogen atom, NR.sub.4, NHR.sub.3 or an alkyl group, and R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 represent a lower alkyl group; and said magnetic layer further contains at least one fatty acid.

    摘要: A cleaning medium for magnetic recording devices comprises a non-magnetic substrate, a lower coating layer, which is overlaid upon the non-magnetic substrate and primarily contains a binder and non-magnetic inorganic particles dispersed in the binder, and a cleaning layer, which is overlaid upon the lower coating layer and contains a binder and inorganic particles dispersed in the binder and at least containing ferromagnetic particles. An at least 50% by weight portion of the non-magnetic inorganic particles, which are contained in the lower coating layer, is constituted of granular inorganic particles, which have a mean particle diameter of at most 0.08 .mu.m, or acicular inorganic particles, which have a mean longer axis length falling within the range of 0.05 .mu.m to 0.3 .mu.m and an acicular ratio falling within the range of 3 to 20. The cleaning medium removes dirt from magnetic heads with high cleaning power, such that the wear of the magnetic heads may be small and no scratch may occur on the cleaned magnetic heads.

    摘要: A cleaning medium for magnetic recording devices comprises a non-magnetic substrate and a lower coating layer, which is overlaid upon the non-magnetic substrate and primarily contains a binder and non-magnetic inorganic particles dispersed in the binder. The cleaning medium also comprises a cleaning layer, which is overlaid upon the lower coating layer and contains a binder and inorganic particles dispersed in the binder, the inorganic particles at least containing ferromagnetic particles. The thickness of the cleaning layer falls within the range of 0.05 .mu.m to 1.0 .mu.m, and the squareness ratio of the cleaning layer falls within the range of 0.6 to 0.98. The cleaning medium yields little wear of magnetic heads, has good cleaning characteristics, and is capable of trueing up the shape of an end of a cleaned magnetic head into a sharp shape, such that the compatibility of the magnetic head with both of a metal evaporated tape and a metal powder tape in coming into close and uniform contact with the tapes may be kept good.
