    摘要: The present disclosure provides an ionic liquid produced from a renewable source and with excellent lubricating properties, and methods of making the same. The ionic liquid includes an anion salt of at least one of a fatty acid, a rosin acid, or derivative thereof. The method for making the ionic liquid or lubricant composition of the present disclosure includes admixing a cation and an anion in a ratio of about a 1.5:1 to about 1:1.5 at room temperature to form a reaction mixture, wherein the anion comprises at least one of a fatty acid, a rosin acid, derivative thereof, or a combination thereof, and the cation comprises at least one of choline, imidazolium, pyridium, pyrrolidinium, ammonium, phosphonium, sulfonium, derivatives thereof, or combinations thereof; maintaining the reaction mixture at a pH of about 6 to about 9; and drying under reduced pressure to yield a lubricant including an ionic liquid.

    摘要: A method of lubricating a fluid production pump may include mixing a polarized lubricant with water to produce a diluted lubricant. The method may additionally include creating a flowpath within the fluid production pump. An initial volume of the diluted lubricant may be circulated within the flowpath to allow the diluted lubricant to react with components of the fluid production pump and form a protective barrier on the components of the fluid production pump. The method may further comprise repeatedly introducing a periodic volume of diluted lubricant into the fluid production pump according to a predefined lubrication schedule.

    摘要: Natural liquid potassium soap compositions and methods of manufacturing and using the same are provided with thickening by the addition of chloride salts, such as sodium chloride and potassium chloride. The natural liquid potassium soap compositions may contain one or more fatty acids with carbon length ranging from four (C4) to twenty-two (C22) or natural fatty acid mixtures with coconut oil, olive oil, tallow, sunflower oil, safflower oil, and/or tall oil fatty acids which are saponified with lye. The saponification lye is preferably potassium hydroxide. Preferred embodiments contain potassium salts of fatty acids comprising at least oleic acid (C18:1 cis-9), olive oils, coconut oils or mixtures thereof. The chloride salt is added in either solid or liquid form following saponification and neutralization.

    摘要: A metal overbased composition is disclosed that comprises(A) at least one natural oil comprising an animal oil or vegetable oil comprising a triglyceride of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are independently saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbyl groups containing from about 8 to about 24 carbon atoms and(B) a metal base oxide (MO), hydroxide (MOH) or alkoxide (R.sup.4 OM) wherein the metal comprises an alkali or alkaline earth and R.sup.4 is a hydrocarbyl group containing from about 1 to about 24 carbon atoms, and wherein the equivalent ratio of (A):(B) is from 0.90-10:1 to form a sponified intermediate, adding 2-11 equivalents of (B) per equivalent of formed saponified intermediate and reacting excess (B) with(C) an acidic gas comprising carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide or sulfur trioxide. This composition may also be gelled to produce a rheology control agent.
