摘要: A dye-donor element for thermal dye transfer comprises a support, a hydrophilic dye-barrier/subbing layer comprising poly(butyl acrylate-co-2-aminoethyl methacrylate-co-2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-2-aminoethyl)-methacrylate-co-(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), poly[(2-chloroethyl)acrylamide-co-ethacrylic acid],or gelatin nitrate and a dye layer. The dye-barrier/subbing layer provides improved dye transfer densities.

摘要: A dye-donor element for thermal dye transfer comprising a support having on one side thereof a dye layer and on the opposite side thereof a slipping layer comprising a lubricating material, and wherein a hydrophilic dye-barrier layer is located between the dye layer and the support, and a subbing layer is located between the dye-barrier layer and the support. The dye-barrier layer prevents wrong-way transfer of dye into the support which provides improved dye transfer densities. The subbing layer improves adhesion between the dye-barrier layer and the support.

摘要: A dye-receiving element for thermal dye transfer process and assemblage comprises a compression layer between a film support and the dye image-receiving layer which has a greater compressibility than either the support or the receiving layer, is coated at a coverage of at least 2.0 g/m.sup.2, and has an elasticity of less than 500% elongation at break. In a preferred embodiment, the compression layer has a compression modulus of less than 350 mega Pascals. Use of the compression layer minimizes image defects while providing good scratch resistance.

摘要: A dye-donor element for thermal dye transfer comprising a support having on one side thereof a dye dispersed in a polymeric binder, and wherein the polymeric binder comprises a mixed cellulose ester and the dye-donor element contains a colorless, nonpolymeric material for increasing dye transfer efficiency having the following formula: ##STR1## wherein both R groups represent --CO.sub.2 J or --O.sub.2 CJ and are located either ortho or meta to each other; and each J independently represents a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted carbomonocyclic or carbobicyclic ring having from about 5 to about 12 carbon atoms, with the proviso that when either or both of J is substituted, then the total number of substituent carbon atoms in each J group is about 8 or less.
