Abstract: Described herein are recombinant host organisms expressing a glucose or glycerol transporter, and optionally further expressing a non-phosphorylating NADP-dependent glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPN). Also described are processes for producing a fermentation product, such as ethanol, from starch or cellulosic-containing material with the recombinant host organisms.
