    Abstract: Examples of systems described herein include a computing node configured to execute a hypervisor and a hypervisor independent interface software layer configured to execute on the computing node. The interface software layer may be configured to determine configuration information and an operating system for a virtual machine to be created, receive an instruction to create the virtual machine through the hypervisor independent interface software layer, convert the instruction to create the virtual machine into a hypervisor specific command, create a virtual machine instance responsive to the hypervisor specific command, generate an image file by accessing a customization tool library from a plurality of customization tool libraries based, at least in part, on the customization information operating system for the virtual machine, attach the image file to the virtual machine, and power on the virtual machine instance.

    Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products for intra-footprint computing cluster bring-up within a virtual private cloud. A network connection is established between an initiating module and a virtual private cloud (VPC). An initiating module allocates resources of the virtual private cloud including a plurality of nodes that correspond to members of a to-be-configured computing cluster. A cluster management module having coded therein an intended computing cluster configuration is configured into at least one of the plurality of nodes. The members of the to-be-configured computing cluster interoperate from within the VPC to accomplish a set of computing cluster bring-up operations that configure the plurality of members into the intended computing cluster configuration. Execution of bring-up instructions of the management module serve to allocate networking IP addresses of the virtual private cloud. The allocated networking IP addresses of the virtual private cloud are assigned to networking interfaces of the plurality of nodes.

    Abstract: According to a first embodiment, a system for executing tasks is disclosed. The system includes a persistent storage device configured to store a task database, the task database comprising a plurality of tasks each having a plurality of associated subtasks and a task engine. The task engine is configured to execute a first idempotent operation associated with a first subtask of a first task to generate a first task state, associate the first task state with the first task in the task database, execute a second idempotent operation associated with a second subtask of the first task based on the first task state to generate a second task state, and associate the second task state with the first task in the task database.

    Abstract: Examples described herein may include migration of services of infrastructure management virtual machines to a container. An example method includes creating an infrastructure management virtual machine configured to manage and monitor a cluster of nodes of a computing system. The infrastructure management virtual machine including a plurality of services and an associated virtual disk storing data associated with running the plurality of services. The example method further includes extracting a service of the plurality of services running on the infrastructure management virtual machine, and creating a container on a controller virtual machine running on a node of a computing system. The container includes the extracted service. The example method further includes retrieving data associated with the extracted service from the virtual disk, and after retrieved the data, starting the extracted service in the container.
