Abstract: A phototherapy method comprising: irradiating an affected area that is administered with a phototherapeutic agent with therapeutic light in a first period; and irradiating the affected area with the therapeutic light in a second period after the first period, wherein the second period is a period after the intensity of a first light that is emitted from the phototherapeutic agent has significantly decreased by irradiation with the therapeutic light in the first period, and an irradiation energy dose of the therapeutic light in the second period is determined based on a state of the affected area.

Abstract: An endoscope hood is attached to an endoscope insertion section including an optical fiber that optically guides therapeutic light with which biological tissue is to be irradiated and outputs the therapeutic light, and including an observation optical system for observing the biological tissue. The hood includes: an attachment section attached to a distal end of the endoscope insertion section; a pressing section including a pressing surface that presses against the biological tissue, the therapeutic light output from the optical fiber being transmittable through the pressing section; a transmission section disposed forward of the observation optical system, light being transmittable through the transmission section toward the observation optical system; and a blocking member disposed between a position where the distal end of the optical fiber is disposed and the transmission section, the therapeutic light output from the optical fiber being prevented from entering the transmission section by the blocking member.

Abstract: Provided is phototherapy progress measuring method for measuring a progress of a phototherapy of an affected portion by employing a fluorescent agent. The method includes: detecting a first fluorescence intensity, which is an intensity of fluorescence generated in the affected portion as a result of radiating therapeutic light beam onto the affected portion; and calculating, by employing the first fluorescence intensity and reference data, progress information representing the progress of the phototherapy of the affected portion. The reference data are determined on the basis of a fluorescence intensity associated with the fluorescent agent that is in the affected portion and that is not involved in the phototherapy.
