An integral thermoplastic crato 1 comprises end walls 3, side walls 2 and a bottom, the underside of which is divided into rectangular portions by ridges and the upper surface of which contains crossed rib formations situated centrally with respect to the rectangular portions, partitions 8 and 12 dividing the crate into article receiving recesses. Projections extend from the mid points of the ridges and serve to locate the tops of articles, e.g. bottles in a lower crate. A handle 5 is attached integrally to the crate 1 by T-shaped struts 4. The crossed rib formations may be formed on the underside of the crate bottom and the rectangular portions on the upper surface, or both surfaces may contain alternate sections of both types of configurations.
