Abstract:
Apparatus for applying carrier grids to the tops of groups of a predetermined number of capped containers, comprising a conveyor for moving the containers standing upright thereon along a predetermined horizontal path, a pocket wheel arranged adjacent the conveyor in the path of movement of the containers rotable by movement of the containers therealong, a pair of spaced parallel chains supported above the conveyor along the path of movement of the containers in an inclined position with one end above the tops of the containers and the other end below the tops for progressively applying pressure to a grid deposited on the tops of the containers, a hopper for holding a stack of grids, an ejector for ejecting the lowermost grid in the hopper downwardly at an angle directly into the path of movement of the tops of the containers, and means operable by the counter to effect operation of the ejector when the counter has counted a number of containers corresponding to the number of containers the grid is designed to hold.
Abstract:
A device for reducing the diameter of corks and the like for ease of insertion into the neck of a bottle or like container comprising parts having arcuate surfaces arranged around a common center for movement relative to each other, said surfaces collectively defining a cylindrical opening for receiving an object to be compressed and said surfaces lapping successively in one direction around the opening and one of the parts being fixed and the other parts being movable relative to the fixed part and to each other to, on the one hand, increase the lapping to compress the object contained in the opening and on the other hand to decrease the lapping to release the object and a lever for effecting movement of the movable parts relative to the fixed part.
Abstract:
Apparatus for applying flat carrier grids to the tops of capped bottles of groups of three in line, said grids being of the kind having top encircling elements corresponding in number to the number of bottles in the group to which it is to be applied, which are adapted to be expanded over the caps onto the necks of the bottles, comprising a conveyor for moving the groups of bottles along a predetermined path, a pressure-applying assembly supported above the conveyor for progressively applying pressure to a grid deposited on the tops of the bottles downwardly over the caps onto the necks, a hopper for delivering grids to the successive groups of bottles, a detector operable by movement of each group of bottles by it to release a grid from the hopper to the bottles, and a stabilizer situated between the pressureapplying assembly and the hopper for initially engaging all of the top encircling elements of a grid with all of the bottle caps before the grid is presented to the pressure-applying assembly.
Abstract:
Comprises a feeding device for initially aligning randomly arranged closures edge to edge in a row facing in either one direction or the other, and an orienting device for thereafter arranging all of the closures thus aligned to face in the same direction.
