Abstract: A batteryless, chipless, sensor is disclosed which includes a substrate, at least two conductive strips disposed on the substrate, a passivation layer encasing the substrate and the at least two conductive strips, wherein the conductive strips are adapted to respond to an interrogation signal from a reader having a first polarization, with a response signal at a second polarization different than the first polarization.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a copper oxide (CuxO) structure onto a Copper (Cu) surface by fabricating an electroactive hierarchical CuxO structure directly onto the Cu surface by laser-induced oxidation (LIO). The generated heat from the laser source provides energy for the oxidation of the Cu surface in the presence of atmospheric oxygen. The electroactive hierarchical CuxO structure is a binder-free nanotextured structure. The electroactive hierarchical CuxO structure may be used as a glucose sensor.

Abstract: Methods for fabricating printed devices and monitoring one or more performance characteristics of the printed devices during their fabrication in a high-speed process. Such a method includes developing a physics-based model of at least a first component of the printed devices, fabricating the printed devices with the high-speed process using fabrication steps that comprise depositing the first components, acquiring a physical characteristic of a plurality of the first components of a plurality of the printed devices following the depositing of the first components, predicting a performance characteristic of the printed devices based on the physics-based model of the first component and the physical characteristic acquired of the plurality of the first components; and then modifying at least one of the fabrication steps performed during the fabricating of a subsequently-fabricated group of the printed devices to adjust the performance characteristic of the subsequently-fabricated group of the printed devices.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing an implantable device is provided. The method includes laser nano-texturing a titanium surface. The method further includes applying an aqueous silver ion solution to form a silver ion complex on the nano-textured titanium surface. The method also includes reducing, using laser-assisted photocatalytic reduction, the silver ion complex to silver ion particles which are immobilized on the nano-textured titanium surface.
