Abstract: A light source device includes a light source element that emits light source light in a first wavelength region, a selective reflection element that separates the light source light into first light and second light, a first light direction conversion element that reflects the first light guided in a first direction from the selective reflection element in a second direction, and a wavelength conversion element that converts the first light into third light in a second wavelength region. The first light direction conversion element reflects the third light in a third direction opposite to the first direction. The selective reflection element transmits the third light reflected by the first light direction conversion element. The selective reflection element guides the second light and the third light in the third direction. The light source element emits the light source light in a direction different from the second direction.

Abstract: A phosphor wheel module includes a substrate and a phosphor region disposed on a surface of the substrate. The phosphor region includes a phosphor that is disposed on at least a part of a circumference of a circle with a first radius from a rotation center of the substrate. The substrate includes a ventilation region and a heat conduction region. The ventilation region includes a plurality of openings that is located closer to the rotation center of the substrate than the phosphor region. The heat conduction region is located farther away from the rotation center of the substrate than the phosphor region.

Abstract: A light source device includes a phosphor wheel, a light source, a color separating-and-mixing element, and a light-guide optics. The phosphor wheel includes a base plate having a first light passage area and a second light passage area as a pair of light passage areas being annularly and point symmetrically arranged with respect to a center of the base plate, a phosphor area annularly formed on the base plate, and a motor that rotates the base plate. The color separating-and-mixing element disposed between the light source and the phosphor wheel changes a direction of traveling of fluorescence created as a result of light having being incident on the phosphor area and been converted in wavelength. The light-guide optics is provided to cause light from the light source to travel through the first light passage area, then through the second light passage area, and finally enter into the color separating-and-mixing element.
