    摘要: The substantially leak proof glazing system comprises a plurality of panels, each of which comprises a sheet of glass surrounded by a frame. The frame is formed of two angle members along each edge of the sheet which are slightly shorter than the edge of the sheet so that there is an open diagonal gap at the corner of the panel which leaves the corner open for receiving sealant. A resilient bezel is between each outer angle member and the outer surface of the corresponding sheet. The balance of the space between the edge of the sheet and the angle members is filled with a silicone sealant applied wet and cured in place. Channels in the faces of the bezel permit the detection of gas leakage through the seals. The glazing system has a generally U-shaped bond breaker covering a portion of the supporting structure. A quantity of silicone sealant is bonded between the edges of adjacent panels and the bond breaker, forming a substantially air tight seal between the panels. The bond breaker provides a surface which the sealant will not adhere to. The outer legs of the bond breaker are sinuous in transverse cross-section and elastically engage the supporting member and adjacent frames.

    摘要: A synchrotilt chair includes a base, a back, a seat, and a link(s) pivoted to a rear of the base and to a bottom of the back to form a four-bar linkage arrangement. In one form, the chairs are nestable and stackable for dense storage. In another form, the chairs are desk-type pedestal chairs. Several of the structural support members of the chair are gas-assisted injection molding to form a hollow tubular perimeter frame that is lightweight, strong, and dimensionally-accurate A flexible panel is integrally molded between opposing sides of the perimeter frame. Armrests are pivoted to the back and have a shape configured to allow nested stacking while also providing excellent comfort, durability, and style. Also, the armrests are movable to remote storage positions to provide unobstructed side access to the seat of the chair.

    摘要: The invention is directed to structural elements for use in triangulated structures, and structures assembled from such elements. In particular the invention provides an elongated structural element for use in a triangulated structural assembly, provided at at least one end thereof with connector means adapted for pivotal connection directly to at least one further structural element about a pivot axis which is transverse to the longitudinal axis of the structural element and which is disposed outside the general envelope of the structural element itself. The arrangement is such that from two to as many as one hundred such structural elements may be interconnected at a structural node without the use of an intermediate nodal member.

    摘要: A kite having a prism-shaped three dimensional frame, spanned by aerodynamic surfaces on its two downward disposed faces. The top or upward disposed face is spanned by a novel aerodynamic surface called an air dam which operates to stabilize the flight of the kite while greatly increasing the lift. A tail consisting of struts spanned by an aerodynamic surface is also provided. The frame is built from a number of identical struts and identical connectors. Each aerodynamic surface consists of two unitary congruent sheets positioned facewise against each other and joined together along their edges. The struts are inserted between the sheets along the edges where the sheets are joined together. This simple basic structure facilitates assembly and reduces cost while providing a high strength-to-weight ratio and stable flying qualities. Combination kites may be assembled by joining several basic kites in various ways.
