摘要: An I.S. Machine for making glass bottles, having a plurality of sections, each having a blank station for forming a parison. Each section has a section frame having a top surface, and a plunger mechanism including at least one plunger canister having a lower cylinder and an upper flange. A horizontal mounting plate having a top surface and vertical openings for receiving the lower cylinder of each of the plunger canisters is fixedly secured on the top surface of the section frame. The section frame top surface has vertical openings for receiving the lower cylinders of each of the plunger canisters and the flange of the plunger mechanism is secured to the top surface of the mounting plate.

At least one outlet port of the plurality of service air conduits in the plunger distribution plate which are to be connected to the plunger canister service air conduits being axially offset from the corresponding inlet port of the plunger canister. A transition plate intermediate the plunger canister and the plunger distribution plate having a bottom surface for engaging the top surface of the plunger distribution plate and a top surface.

摘要: A plunger base module for a selected number of vertically extending cylindrical plunger canisters each having a bottom surface and including a set of service conduits including plunger up, plunger down, and counterblow/vacuum or cooling, with each of the service conduits in a plunger canister having a selectively located inlet port communicating with the bottom surface of the plunger canister. The plunger base module includes a permanent plunger distribution base having a top surface and a plurality of sets of service conduits, each set including plunger up, plunger down, and counterblow/vacuum or cooling. Each plunger distribution base service conduit has an outlet port communicating with the top surface. A removable transition plate has a bottom surface for engaging the top surface of the plunger distribution base and a top surface. The transition plate has a number, equal to the number of plunger canisters, of sets of service conduits, each set including plunger up, plunger down, and counterblow/vacuum or cooling. Each of the service conduits in the transition plate has an inlet port in the transition plate bottom surface for communicating with a corresponding outlet port in the plunger distribution base and has an outlet port in the transition plate top surface selectively located to communicate with a corresponding inlet port in a plunger canister positioned on the transition plate. The plunger distribution base also includes a valve for selectively blocking the flow of the services to the transition plate.

摘要: A pneumatic machine control unit for an I.S. machine having at least one machine section for processing a gob of molten glass into a selected bottle. The section is supplied by a plurality of pneumatic lines at different pressures. A pneumatic supply input line supplies a manifold which is connected to a plurality of output lines. 摘要: An invert and neck ring holder mechanism for displacing a parison from a blank station to a blow station. The invert and neck ring holder mechanism has an opposed pair of side brackets, a worm gear housing supporting a worm gear, and a motor/worm housing for supporting the worm gear housing intermediate the opposed side brackets. The invert and neck ring holder mechanism also has a pair of cylinder assemblies extending between the sides of the worm gear and the side brackets. The cylinder assemblies include a cylinder having an in support. Each cylinder is axially displaceable from a first location adjacent the worm gear to a second location adjacent the associated side bracket and rotationally displaceable to displace its neck ring holder support from a first position at the blank station to a second position at the blow station. A first switch indicates that said first cylinder assembly cylinder is proximate its associated side bracket, a second switch indicates that the first cylinder assembly neck ring holder support is at the first position, a third switch indicates that the second cylinder assembly cylinder is proximate its associated side bracket, and a fourth switch indicates that the second cylinder assembly neck ring holder support is at the second position.

摘要: A mold opening and closing mechanism for an I.S. machine has a pair of opposed mold support mechanisms for carrying at least one opposed pair of mold side portions. Each mold support mechanism includes a yoke having a first vertical bore and a second horizontal bore. Molds are carried by upper and lower inserts which also have a hole extending vertically therethrough. An insert carrier is linearly displaceable between retracted and advanced positions and the inserts and the yoke are secured to the carrier by a first pin slidably extending vertically through the vertical holes in the inserts and yoke, and through a vertical hole in the carrier. A second pin slidably extends through this yoke horizontal hole and the drive assembly is connected to this second pin.

摘要: A mold opening and closing mechanism for an I.S. machine which has a pair of mold support mechanisms supported for horizontal displacement between a retracted position and an advanced position. These support mechanisms are linearly displaced by a drive assembly which includes a lead screw, a housing secured to the section frame for supporting the lead screw, a motor coupled to the lead screw, nuts operatively associated with the lead screw, and links interconnecting the nuts with their associated mold support mechanism. The housing has a rear wall defining a flat surface, and the nuts have flat rear bearing surfaces with a selected spacing therebetween when the mold support mechanism is fully retracted. The lead screw has a rigidity selectively chosen so that when the mold mechanism is displaced to the advanced position into engagement with the other mold support mechanism, with a predetermined force, the lead screw will deflect to establish engagement between the flat bearing surfaces and the rear flat wall surface of the housing which is secured to the frame, whereby the mold support mechanism will be part of a continuous solid structure extending from the section frame, up the housing of each of the drive assemblies, across the nuts and the links of each drive assemblies, and across mold support mechanisms thereby positively preventing the vertical or horizontal displacement of the engaged mold support mechanisms from forces applied thereto.

摘要: An invert and neck ring holder mechanism having an opposed pair of neck ring holders displaceable from a blow station to a blank station of a section of an I.S. machine. The invert and neck ring holder mechanism has a pair of an opposed pair of pneumatically operated cylinder assemblies extending between a gear housing a gear and side brackets including a cylinder housing supporting a neck ring holder support rotatable with the gear and axially displaceable from an open position to a closed position. Each of the cylinder housings includes a target sensed by a sensor when the neck ring holder support is at the closed position. Each of the targets is configured so as to be sensed by the associated sensor for a selected angular range when the neck ring holder support is at the closed position. The angle of displacement of the neck ring holder supports when the sensors sense the associated target are determined so that the condition of the pneumatic cylinder can be evaluated and so that offsets can be defined for variations between actual and programmed angles for event occurrences.

摘要: An I.S. machine has a plurality of individual sections arranged in side by side relation. Each section has a blank station for forming a parison from a gob of molten glass, and a blow station for forming a parison into a bottle. An invert and neck ring holder mechanism is located between these stations for transferring a parison between from one station to the other. Each station has a mold opening and closing mechanism which has a pair of opposed mold support mechanisms supported for linear displacement between a retracted position and an advanced position. Each mold support mechanism is supported by a first shaft on one side of the center of the mold opening and closing mechanism, proximate the invert and neck ring holder mechanism, extending perpendicularly to the engagement plane, and by a second shaft on the other side of the center of the mold opening and closing mechanism, remote from the invert and neck ring holder mechanism, extending perpendicularly to the engagement plane. The second shaft is second interconnected with the mold support mechanism enabling relative motion between the mold support mechanism and the second shaft in the parison transfer direction so that expansion of the mold support mechanism will take place in the transfer direction away from the invert and neck ring holder mechanism.
