The element of the invention exhibits improved cyan dye light stability.

摘要： A photographic element comprises a light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith an open chain .alpha.-carbonyl acetanilide yellow dye-forming coupler having the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl, aryl, heterocyclic, and amino groups, provided that R.sub.1 may form a ring bonded to another carbon atom which is a member of Ring "A";each R.sub.2 is independently selected from the group consisting of those substituents having a Hammett's sigma value of 0 or less, and m is from 0 to 4;each R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 for each of the n carbon atoms is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkoxy, aryl, heterocyclic, aryloxy, and alkyl groups, and n is 0 to 16;each R.sub.5 is independently selected from the group consisting of amino, alkyl groups, and groups linked to the "B" ring by oxygen or sulfur, and p is 1 to 3, provided that two R.sub.5 groups may join to form a ring;R.sub.6 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl, aryl, and amino groups;each L is independently a divalent linking group and q is 0 to 3; andRing "A" is bonded indirectly to the 3-, 4-, or 5-position of Ring "B"; andZ is hydrogen, or a group capable of coupling-off when the coupler reacts with an oxidized color developing agent.

摘要： The invention provides new magenta-dye-forming couplers, new magenta dyes formed therefrom, and new photographic elements containing the new couplers. The new couplers have the structure (I):Q--G--Q.sub.(I)wherein --G-- has the structure (II):--L--NH--SO.sub.2 --R--SO.sub.2 -NH--L--.sub.(II)wherein --R-- is substituted or unsubstituted alkylene, alkoxylene, arylene, or aryloxylene, andeach --L-- is independently substituted or unsubstituted alkylene, alkoxylene, arylene, aryloxylene, or aryloxyalkylene, andQ-- has the structure (III ): ##STR1## wherein: each R.sup.1 -- is independently H-- or a substituent; each X-- is independently H-- or a coupling-off group; andeach of D, E, and Z is independently a substituted or unsubstituted methine group, .dbd.N--, or --NH--, with the provisos that one of either the D-E or E-Z bonds is a double bond and the other is a single bond, and when the D-E bond is a carbon-carbon double bond it may form part of an aromatic ring fused with Q--, and one of D, E, and Z is a methine group bonded to --G--.
